I fully intend to make the most of not having to get up for the next two days; it's been so long since I was able to have a totally guilt free lie-in of a weekend morning, I can't remember the last time. But I totally expect to have problems getting to sleep, since the vibe of the house is totally different without him. It's not so bad while he's at school, since that's where he's supposed to be, if that makes sense. But when he's staying with family I always feel weird.
I had to do a heap of ironing yesterday, in preparation - though I haven't made a dent in the actual ironing pile :-p And we spent a while puttering around getting his other stuff together before everyone left - he's taken my DS with him, to keep him occupied on the two hour car journey, along with other stuff to play with during the week.
I spent the entire morning cleaning the house, which was exhausting as it's been very humid today. Plus I was trying to dry some clothes as well. But the house is in a reasonable condition - for me, anyway - with the exception of the bedrooms. We shall just have to see whether I can keep it that way when it's just me! ;-)
I got to spend a couple of hours in town with Mel and Will before we went to collect Rowan from his last day of school, which was great. It was slightly amusing to realise just how much the city is changing - even from Mel's perspective, since she comes back home several times a year. I was imagining how much fun I could have showing friends around who are strangers to the city :-)
I'm looking forward to a couple of days of relaxation now, before I return to the usual mundane routine of work - though this time without the school run thrown in. Then I'm jumping on the train after work on Thursday to go spend the weekend with Mel and Will myself. Not looking forward to the journey home next Sunday though - you should have seen the amount of stuff they had to take with them! I swear, you take care of a kid for a week you pretty much need their entire wardrobe!
