I knew it!
Jul. 24th, 2008 11:23 amThe people in IT are monitoring our web access and deliberately blocking every website that gets visited a lot. *fumes*
I only get fifteen minutes for my lunch, since I only work four hours a day, so there's no point me leaving my desk. So I tend to have a mooch at fanfiction.net, just for something to do. But what do I discover today? Yep, they've gone and added it to the blocked list.
They do this to *everything* I look at that could, if the user is irresponsible, be considered non-worksafe, or a distraction from work. There was a time when I could access LJ from work...
It's not like I'm going to go look at the adult stuff, for pete's sake! Anyone could look over my shoulder at any time, and I don't really want to answer questions about the stuff I *was* looking at.
Now what am I going to do to kill the time? There's only so many times you can surf through the Open University website, or the online shop for the NASN sports channel. *sigh*
I think they're messing with the email servers too, since I've made two attempts to email home my manager's extension number, incase I need to call in sick. I guess if this doesn't get through, I'll find out for sure.
In better news, I get to see my boy again this evening! \O/ I can't believe I haven't seen him in a week - it's been kinda strange listening to him on the phone, as he doesn't sound quite as mature as I'm used to. And he lost his first tooth yesterday! I'm kinda sad I wasn't there when it came out, but there weren't perfect odds of that anyway since it could have fallen out at school any time over the last couple of weeks. The one next to it apparently started wobbling yesterday too, and the adult teeth to replace them already started poking out a couple of weeks back - that is the wierdest thing I've seen in a while, let me tell you!
It's been a very peaceful - if unnaturally quiet - week, not having him around. And my flat's still pretty much clean! I've spent a lot of my spare time in front of the computer, just chilling and reading fanfic, and making a dent in drying my towels while the weather's been good. When I finished work yesterday it was such a lovely afternoon I decided to go over to Gorsedd Gardens, outside the museum, and eat my lunch under a tree while I wrote a little. Spent a good hour out there, before I decided to go have a wander through the museum itself - I only really bothered with the Natural History section though, since I'm not much of a fan of artworks and stuff, so I spent a good while looking at stuffed creatures, crystal formations...it was very nice.
Right...times up *sigh* Gotta get back to work - roll on two o'clock! My train to the wilds of Hampshire leaves Cardiff at three, and I am so out of here on time today! See you guys on Sunday!
