I helped rescue one of our team managers from an embarrassing situation a little while ago.

They've decided to trial providing free fresh fruit (try saying that three times fast!) in the office, and Denzil - who was my supervisor until recently - was the person nominated to go up to People Services on floor twenty-two to retrieve our allocation. As he came towards our pod, Operations Manager Andrew decided it would be hysterical to rearrange a banana and two apples into a certain configuration that I'm sure it doesn't take much imagination to picture! *chuckles*

Denz was suitably amused, since there's nothing malicious intended, but I think the way others kept ensuring the fruit stayed like that got on his nerves a little. So when I offered to rescue him by taking the banana for myself, he was quite relieved.

Getting in to work today was a nightmare as there was apparently an couple of accidents around the corner from me. Traffic was backed up all down our street - which, while a main road, is not normally that busy - and there were no buses for ages. Didn't help that the previous two buses had been full of school kids and commuters, so we ended up waiting on that bus stop for about 45 minutes. And even then, the first bus that came by was a diverted bus that didn't go exactly where we were headed. So I ended up dropping Rowan at nursery about ten minutes before my shift started. Thankfully my manager was fine about it when I called ahead to give her a heads up.

As we were getting on the bus I got a call from my Mam to let me know Nan P passed away yesterday. Naturally I'm sad about it, but I'm more relieved than anything as she was really suffering. I'm gonna miss her though - she was good to me, despite the fact I wasn't really family.

Right, my shift's over and I've made up the half hour I was late getting in so I am now off to go collect my parcel! *bounces* I think I'll head to the Post Office before I get Rowan, in case they shut before the two of us can get there. You can always rely on kids to cause unforseen delays.

I forgot what time the All Star Game is tonight, and made plans in my head to stay up and see a little of it, taping the rest. For some reason I thought it was on at eleven, which would give me time to do a few things before it started. But no, it's at one in the morning so I'm going to have to just set the video...

Tonight's Due South was the one with the country singer, so I was compelled to go back and re-read the fic I found based on that episode. I remembered really liking it, and it was quite cool the second time 'round too.

There were also some new fics on my flist today - including some more Sports Night drabbles, which was much of the yay.

Today's been a great day for the post too; I left work at three thirty and headed straight for the Post Office down the road from my house. I handed over the delivery notice that got pushed through my door saturday morning and they hand me this massive box! I nearly bounce out of the tiny shop, trying not to trip over the little anklebiters playing on the floor by the doorway, and head home.

Then I realise I'd left my keys at the office...

Thankfully my mother had taken the day off work to watch my neice Jessica, so my sister could go visit with the rest of Nan P's family. So she was home and I could blag a lift back into town with her. We collected Rowan on the way down, and he and I quickly nipped into my office. Sure enough, there they were in the lock of my pedestal. *sighs*

So, Rowan and I - plus the big box - go back home. I've been wearing my new Mariners cap most of the evening in order to get used to it again. I haven't had to wear a cap since my last shift on the fish counter before I went on Maternity leave, as when I went back to the store five months later I was on the home and leisure department and no longer required special clothing.

One of the packets of Nutter Butters was opened straight away and, to my dismay, Rowan likes them. Gah!! *amused sigh* He also loves the Goldfish crackers too - but then I knew he would. Thank you Pamela - seriously.

The other peice of post was the Josh Charles DVD Hilary has kindly lent me. That and a magazine from the council were hanging down from the inside of my letter box so, as I'm sure she'll be relieved to hear, the DVD never hit the floor when the postman pushed it through the letter box. Though I think it would have been safe enough inside that jiffy bag. I plan to set aside a little time tomorrow night to watch it.

*stretches* Oh man I am tired...gonna go crash now. Night guys!
