Apr. 19th, 2006 11:28 pmRowan and I had company on the bus to Nursey this morning. One of the women on my team, Suzi, was on there and as soon as she greeted me she had Rowan's company for the rest of the journey *wry smile* Kid'll latch on to anyone who so much as smiles at him, so he babbled at Suzi almost non-stop. Thankfully she has experience - four daughters of her own - and she thought he was adorable.
I can't help being embarrassed when he does that - my problem though, not his, as I'm very shy and antisocial. On the other hand, if it helps him grow up to be the confident person his mother is not, then it can only be a good thing.
I had to move desks this morning. Took me half an hour to move my stuff a few pods down, but at least I now have another flat-screen monitor again. I was a lot more comfortable working for the afternoon, once I had all my stuff in their right places. It's ironic how just-so I keep my desk at work, compared to my desk at home which has stuff piled all over. Mine's one of the neatest workspaces in the office, complete with family photos and fluffy toys. Plus I now have some new pictures of Josh Charles and Paul Gross to distract me....*grins*
I'm sat next to Suzi now, and opposite Jane, another of the mothers on the team. This is not necessarily a good thing as we're likely to swap parenting stories all day. Plus the others on my new pod are talkative and, unlike the last pod, made more of an effort to include me in the conversation.
Guess we'll have to see how this works out. Plus I'm still waiting to hear about my annual review....
I'm deep into another of my fanfic kicks, so I was very grateful to be given a link to a Sports Night archive with stuff I had never read before. I think I've pretty much exhausted the Fraser/RayV Due South fanfic, and I was missing Dan and Casey so this was awesome. I'm now going back through the stuff I haven't read for a couple of weeks, pleased to see that my love for the boys hasn't faded one iota.
Plus I'm slowly - and I'm talking snails pace here - tinkering with some WiPs. I sat for an hour in Starbucks this evening and re-wrote one of them into another notepad, 'cause this helps me tinker with them easier than trying to amend a file on the computer.
On a final note - it's rather disturbing to realise that the little ditty your son is singing under his breath is in fact the advert for Domestos bleach... "I'm gonna give them dihorrea" is not something you expect a four year old to be singing.
