It's strange how things still get to you

It's been five years and about two months. But I can still get to bawling my eyes out over my 'old man', I miss him so much.

Yes, I know. I'm being silly. I just can't help myself. And it's not even as though I can swoop up Symba and give him a good old cuddle to make myself feel better, as he'd just freak out and I'd end up getting scratched. Not like Tammie - he was always up for a cwtch, any time I wanted. And plenty of time I didn't.

Meh.

I'm going to bed now. I owe people responses to various things, and I'm sorry. I'm just not much in the mood this evening.

{{{hugs}}} I miss all my cats - right back to Melanie, who was our first cat, and died almost 20 years ago. Before I got the NuCats I'd wondered whether any new cats we got would feel like 'our' cats, after we'd had the others so long - but, of course, they do. I'm very lucky that Jenny and Molly are cuddly - and so is the ShadowCat, as long as it's dark and no-one can see him!

I'm not as close to Sym as I would like to be - possibly because he's somewhat damaged from whatever he was rescued from as a kitten, and I've perhaps not dealt with that as well as I should have.

We are closer now than we were, but only on his terms. He'll sit alongside me on the sofa when I'm on the laptop, but what he really wants is to sit on my lap at every opportunity. It's only in the last year he's quit doing that little dance they do where they move around and around, padding at you for ages till they finally settle down.

I spoke too soon anyway - they all went out today and, where previously they'd just gone down to the dustbins and then come back, today they went up the garden shed and into the vegetation over the back and didn't come back. They're out in the garden at the moment, so at least I now know they're still safe, but they're not coming in for anything.
