Rugrat's b-day today - lowkey party ensued; way too much food, not enough room for everyone, too much noise.

Had to tolerate my ex's presence (I'm not past my deep ...irritation with him) and try to get my nephews and eldest neice to calm down after he winds them up. He thinks kids find him funny, but they don't...they just think he's wierd and tease him back.

My three-month-old neice had a screaming fit halfway through, and it took a while and several people to get her to calm down and go to sleep. Probably too noisy and too hot, so she was overstimulated. Before I had my son, that would have made my skin crawl after a while, but I'm a lot more tolerant of that now. Spent a good part of the crying session dealing with her myself, which was actually a pleasure - I so miss little babies...

Little 'un was pretty good all things considered - blew out his candle all by himself without prompting. Probably got shown what to do in Nursery this morning, mind.

Crept into his room at just past 9.33 this evening, as normal, to wish him a happy birthday at the time of day when he was actually born. Soppy I know, but ask me if I care? ;-)

Three years old...where did the time go? Wasn't he only born yesterday?

It is NOT soppy, hon. I'm 31 on December 27th, and my mom STILL calls me, wherever I am, to wish me a happy birthday at 10:20 pm, the actual time of my birth.

So, I get it. and it always gives me the warm fuzzies when she does it.

*grins* That's my mother's b-day too - so you'll also understand why we have a house rule here that Christmas does not begin until *after* the rugrat's birthday - and woe-betide any family member who goes against that rule where presents are concerned. (Specially since there's a whole fifteen days between the two events!)

We had a similar rule at my house. Advent candles aside, nothing else christmassy happened at my house until December 4th. Made me feel special, that did.

Wow.... That's GOT to be a handful. Especially the celebrations for the little ones. You know how hyper they get sometimes. *grins* Kudos to you and happy birthday to your cutie.;)
