But still pretty worn out, so I'm mostly just surfing quietly while watching some DVDs. Just gone done watching 'Wimbledon' - I enjoyed it! Paul Bettany's kinda cute ;-)
So...last night I went out with some of my colleagues to the bowling alley down Cardiff Bay. It was pretty much a disaster, as they managed to lose our booking. We'd pre-paid mid-week, but we have to hand all reciepts in to Payroll straight away so we had no confirmation to hand. (I think they'll make a point of photocopying things like this in the future though....) Plus the guy who booked it didn't turn up until after we'd played one game, which didn't help.
Several of the people I was with argued this with the management, and we were eventually allowed to go and play while they investigated. So we played one game, then the discussions carried on some more. We were halfway though the second game before they finally agreed we made a legitimate booking, paid in full, and gave us a voucher for a free game at a later date.
For myself, I played like crap. I don't think I scored more than fourty points total in either game, and that's really bad for me. I'm not a good player, but I usually do better than that. I did have trouble settling into my shoes, and I have trouble finding the right weight of bowling ball that doesn't crush my thumb...but still, that's hardly a good excuse.
As usual I had to fight off the girl who tries to encourage me to drink. That really pisses me off, like the fact I choose to be tee-total makes me some kind of freak and she just has to draw me to the darkside. I don't like the taste and I'm very uncomfortable around people who are drunk, but that doesn't mean I'm completely anti-drinking. I spent my late-teens and early twenties hanging out with my friends in pubs, and they didn't give a damn that I only drank colas the whole time. Probably appreciated it 'cause it kept down the cost of the rounds! *chuckles*
One day that girl and I are going to have a falling out. I told her as much, though I think she believes I'm joking.
Didn't feel like heading straight home afterwards, so I called in to the new Doctor Who exhibition on the other side of the complex. It was pretty good, if small - lots of good exhibits. It was very annoying to see Red Dwarf and Little Britain memorabilia sprinkled in amoungst the Who merchandise in the shop though.
I then had the option of going to see a movie in the cinema next door that I used to work at. But there were no films on at the time that I felt like going to see, so I just picked up some ice cream (one of the few chances I have to eat Ben & Jerrys), sat and ate it in the foyer while waiting to see if my friend would return my call and let me know if she could meet me, then headed home.
Woke up pretty groggy this morning, 'cause I'm not used to getting seven straight hours sleep anymore. But I managed to get myself shifted in time for us to make our hairdressing appointment. After that, we headed to IKEA, 'cause I wanted to go check out their bedroom furniture while I'm waiting for my claim to go through. We got a bite to eat there and let Rowan go into the Smaaland creche while we browsed - he loves it in there and it's far kinder than dragging him round the displays with us. Then there was the usual weekend shopping at the supermarket my Dad works at before we all headed home. Rowan whiled away most of the evening playing games on Mam's laptop.
Tomorrow I may see if I can get into an afternoon screening of the latest Harry Potter movie, since I still haven't seen it. I was hoping I wouldn't have to be all Billy-No-Mates and go on my own, but it hasn't worked out that way. I really don't want to miss seeing it on the big screen though.
