I kinda knew today would be a bit of a wipe-out, but it hasn't been that bad all things considered.

Yesterday, they began the latest Great Team Move at work. It's one of the smallest kind, only disrupting a couple of teams, but I happened to be on one of those teams. So yesterday afternoon I put as much of my stuff as I could into my desk pedestal before I left. We have them in lieu of actual drawers, and they're much better when you move desks several times a year as you can just push them to your new home. While one half of the team was definitely moving up yesterday, my half was probably going to be moving today but I still needed to pack as I finish earlier than everyone else. One of the joys of being part-time I guess.

So I got into work this morning knowing I was going to have to be working upstairs from then on, but had to check if my stuff had been moved for me. Naturally, it hadn't. One elevator trip to the next floor with my pedestal and a dash down the stairs for my cactii later, I started to unpack all my folders and cuddly toys on my new desk.

It's really irritating actually - my old desk had a flatscreen monitor (We get most of our computer tech from Dell, by the way Rach *wink*) as well as the tiny little base units. When the move happened, they realised that the computers on the ninth floor weren't suitable for our needs (we have to have access to Outlook and stuff to do our jobs, whereas the phone teams don't) and decided it would be a good idea to move the base units from our desks on the eighth floor upstairs with us. But not the monitors. So I still have my little black CPU, with a hulking great cream monitor on top of it - I really don't know how I coped before when we used to have to use those massive monitors, 'cause having the screen that close to me really aggravated my sinuses today and I had a headache most of the day.

Plus using the database was like wading in molasses today and I was just wishing it would hurry up and crash already. God knows I could have done with a little downtime.

After work, I decided I wanted to go find a single they play on Radio One all the time - Heartbeats by José González. It's the music on the Sony ad Gavin told me about, with all the coloured balls pouring down the street - very reminisent of the ping-pong rain we had in Gotham at the start of [livejournal.com profile] jla_watchtower's Operation Chaos! *chuckles* It's a beautiful song.

While in there I made the mistake of looking through the general shelves and found several 'NOW That's What I Call Music' compilation albums in the sales. I love these particular albums as they let me collect songs I like without having to buy the albums of artists I can't stand. Plus it's better than downloading them, as at least when I save these to my computer I can actually play them on my MP3 player!

Hmmm..don't you hate it when you know you had more to talk about and it's suddenly gone? I'm blaming Sports Night this time - they're finally showing season two on ABC1. Typical, now that I have it on DVD....*chuckles* I'm sure I'll think of everything I wanted to say, once I'm in bed. Always happens that way.
