1. What did you do in 2005 that you'd never done before?
Nothing - I'm boring.
2. Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don't bother with that stuff, since I never keep them.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Yes, my sister-in-law. I haven't seen little Katie much, but she's absolutely beautiful.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
My paternal grandmother's neighbour, 'Aunt' May. Knew her my entire life.
5. What countries did you visit?
Only England this year, alas.
6. What would you like to have in 2006 that you lacked in 2005?
Organisation, spare funds....a little companionship, maybe.
7. What date from 2005 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
I'd have to go back and check the date, but definitely the Queen + Paul Rodgers concert in Hyde Park that got postponed due to the July bombings in London.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Not getting fired from my job for not being 'productive' enough?
9. What was your biggest failure?
Not being 'productive' enough at work.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Just regular colds and stuff - though I nearly got very sick from sleeping in a damp, mouldy bedroom. Which is still damp and mouldy....
11. What was the best thing you bought?
My Sports Night and Six Feet Under dvds
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Umm....nothing really sticks out. This year hasn't been much different than the rest of my adult life so far.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Meh, it varies. Sometimes it's me, sometimes it's a family member or work colleague....hard to pin down.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Bills, stuff for Rowan....some bits and bobs for me too which I technically couldn't afford but got anyway. It's extremely rare I regret anything I buy myself though.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
The Queen concert - that was an evening to never forget.
16. What song will always remind you of 2005?
There are several - Kaiser Cheifs ' I Predict A Riot', KT Tunstall's 'Suddenly I See', 'The JCB Song'....
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
Happier? No.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Spent more time with my son when I wasn't yelling at him for one reason or another. He's a wonderful kid but he's willfull and ignores me if what I want doesn't match what he wants. Eight times out of ten I win, though he proves he's my son by making the fight not really worth it.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
See above for fighting with my son.
20. How did you spend Christmas?
Rowan and I had breakfast together at home, then we went to my parents for dinner before we all headed to my maternal aunt's house for tea. We were all dreading it but we got through it.
22. Did you fall in love in 2005?
Hah, no. When the hell do I have time to meet anyone? And the guys at work are generally either gay, ugly or assholes. Especially the one guy who I think is cute - he's an asshole who most of the time doesn't consider me worthy of his attention.
23. How many one-night stands?
None at all.
24. What was your favorite TV program?
Sports Night!
What, you thought I'd say anything different?
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
No.
26. What was the best book you read?
Sophie Kinsella's 'Can You Keep A Secret'. Devoured it in about three days while on holiday in North Wales.
27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
God...hard to think....probably Damien Rice, or Daniel Powter.
28. What did you want and get?
My own place...though it's been nothing but hassle.
29. What did you want and not get?
Oy...so many responses to that.
30. What was your favorite film of this year?
Batman Begins
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
27, and I stayed home. I was still living with my parents, and my aunt and my mother's step-mother came by, but otherwise I was pretty much alone after work. Thankfully a couple of my online friends were kind enough to lift my spirits that night.
32. What was one thing that would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Not feeling alone for most of it.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2005?
Jeans.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Josh Charles. With a side-order of Peter Krause. Plus I had a thing for Yannik Bisson from 'Sue Thomas: FB-Eye'.
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
I don't bother with politics really.
37. Whom did you miss?
My best friends.
38. Who was the best new person you met?
Met several new friends at the Watchtower - maybe one day I'll actually meet them face to face.
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2005.
Nothing, really.
40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
Gah...I can't think of songs while the tv's on.
Random Stuff from 2005
Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?
Less. I really have not been able to find my muse this year.
What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January 2005?
Sports Night, Dan/Casey! Never thought I'd ever even read that stuff, let alone write a little snippet of my own.
What's your favorite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest.
Most of my writing has been Watchtower stuff....I think I'm proudest of the scene where Robin went after Batman, all the way to Tibet, and ended up fighting Ra's Al Ghul and then trying to keep Batman alive till backup came. And all the scenes that followed.
Plus there was the food fight between Robin and Dick Grayson/Robin in the kitchen of Titans Tower! Hah! *grins hugely*
Did you take any writing risks this year? (See above for unexpected pairings, etc.) What did you learn from them?
Any time I do a scene with Robin that isn't pure conversation is a risk for me. I'm so not good at the action scenes, though I do think I have gotten better.
Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the New Year?
Just to actually write! I have something in my notepad for the Watchtower, but I really want to get it right before I post it up.
Fannish Things I Did in 2005
Bought a several t-shirts from Forbidden Planet with Batman or Superman logos on them - and wore them to work without any embarrassment!
Tripled not only my graphic novel collection but also my action figures collection.
Bought a whole heap of DVDs relating to the lead actors of Sports Night. I'm currently spending my New Year's Eve watching Peter Krause in Six Feet Under.
Happy New Year everyone!
There're fireworks going off everywhere now - though it was louder about an hour ago...I think someone forgot to adjust for daylight savings *snerk*
