I am so hating my job right now. I want to pack it all in and go back to college, but I don't know if I can afford to do it. And I can't seem to find the energy to actually look into the possibility....

But today? Man was I pissed off.

They've been running a kind of 'Office Olympics' thing for months now, and the final event was today - it'd been delayed for various reasons that I really didn't give enough of a shit to pay attention to. So anyway, this event basically involved bouncing down half the office on an adult sized spacehopper.

The person supposed to do it had a holiday day today. And the backup person, though she was in, was pretty sick and really shouldn't have dragged herself in. So after much debate about who should do it, during which I kept very quiet and got on with my work, a decision was reached.

Yup, you guessed it.

Anybody who knows me as anything more than words on a screen will know this is a bad idea. I am barely five foot one and twice my ideal body weight. I have no real sense of balance and am so unfit a toddler can outrun me unless I really go all out. God help me if I ever need to chase Rowan for any reason other than play.

But of course to argue would show that I am not a good team player, and other bollocks like that. So, face like thunder, I stormed upstairs to where it was being held. The organisers could see I wasn't willing, and tried to get me out of it, but there was no way I could not do it. One of the others on my team - the guy who volunteered me, and had done three events himself - came up to take over but I growled at him to go back downstairs. Hell, my Drakey-boy might have been impressed.

He got a little pissy with me before he left, but frankly? I don't care. He sulks and bitches almost daily about one thing or another, whereas I just keep my head down and get on with it.

So there's me, on this space hopper the size of a yoga ball, trying to get around the office. I fell over twice, and by the time I got to the end I could barely breathe. It took me a good five minutes to stop gasping for breath, and another ten before my head stopped hurting. Plus the muscles in my legs, which don't get enough use now I'm deskbound rather than working a shopfloor, have been hurting me all day.

So you can imagine I'm not in a good mood tonight. I hope you'll all excuse me while I go curl up on the sofa and lose myself in 'Sue Thomas: FB-Eye' and 'Lost' for the night.
