Busy day

So, the plan today was to do a little shopping, and then head to my neice Jessica's first birthday party this evening.

Not *exactly* how it panned out, but pretty much.

Went over to Mam's so we could head out in her car, and went to Argos to pick up a curtain rail for my living room. I currently have no curtains up in here, so once the sun goes down, any tom dick or harry can see right into the house.

One of the reasons why my PC is in the particular corner of the room it's in. Not so visible.

I then asked that, since we were in the area, could we possibly go mooch round IKEA? We could also have lunch in there, I suggested. I wanted to have a look at their sofas, since I desperately need one, and maybe their shelving for my bedroom.

So we put Rowan into the play area and went and had a look around the showroom. We managed to get all the way around, and were just starting to browse the market place when it was time to go pick him up. He came out hungry, so we went back upstairs to the resteraunt and had some fish and chips.

We then went back in the market place, intending to head for the checkout. Now, if anyone's never been to an IKEA (and if not, why not? *grin*), you have to walk through the warehouse area on the way to pay for what you've bought. Most of it is in boxes, but some things are on display in order to tempt you into additional purchases. We came across some sofas, which were under £180 - which is good. So I decided to have one more mooch around at the sofa area of the showfloor and talked myself into buying one for £120.

Which was naturally going on my credit card, which has recently been unfrozen after a couple of months of problems with payment *coughs in embarrassment*

Also got two sets of shelves, £15 each, for my bedroom. Which is a bargain. Along with a toy for my neice's birthday, a new dish rack for my kitchen and a small tool set. All of which were really cheap.

So my new sofa's coming tomorrow afternoon. Which mucks up the plans I had to take Rowan out for pizza and a movie, but you never know. They may come early enough.

But at least now we can comfortably snuggle up together while we watch tv. My chairs (also IKEA *grins*) are great, but not for two people.

That trip took up nearly three hours, rather than the hour I'd originally imagined, and then we had to go do the weekly food shop. We got back to my parents place with just enough time for Rowan and I to wash and get changed for the party.

Hard to believe Jessica's one year old already! Mind you, I still can't believe my eldest nephew Shane is nearly sixteen!! What is going on here?

It was at a pub out in the Vale, which has a special childrens room containing a jungle gym. Which was cool, as we could just let the kids have fun while we talked. Rowan was off playing on the section intended for the over-fives! He scares me sometimes...

Plus I got to have a quick cuddle with my youngest neice, six week old Katie. *melts* Didn't last long, as no sooner had she handed her over, my sister-in-law noticed she needed changing. So I carried her into the rest room myself, and gave Angie a little help with cleaning her up. I'm not used to changing girls, though, so I left it mostly to her *grin*

It wasn't a bad party, though I was a little pissed at my Dad for just sitting himself in a corner and not bothering to interact with anyone. He was tired from a hard days work, and wrestling with a cold, poor baby! *sarcastic*

I have never been allowed to beg off things with an excuse as pathetic as that, so I'm afraid I have little sympathy for him.

So, got the rugrat home to bed by ten pm tonight, after we stopped at my parents for a little food (Grown-ups didn't get fed at this party). Hopefully he will sleep in tomorrow, since he doesn't have to go to my in-laws in the morning.

So tired...but not ready for sleep. Especially when my sock puppet's brother and his wife are about to become parents! *flails on Tim's behalf!*

....not that it matters if I stay awake or not. But, still.

Be ready to flail more, Timothy-san. ;)
