Managed to get out of the house early this morning, so I took advantage of the extra time to retake some of the pictures I lost last night. My project's now fairly close to finished - as much as it needs to be to show my lecturer my 'skill' at coding webpages, anyway....

I also took some pics which might interest any Doctor Who fans on my flist - Rach and her husband Phaed, in particular. For those unaware, the most recent series - which finished last weekend! *sniff* - was filmed mostly right here in my hometown. I thought I might post some pics of some of the location used - mostly from the first episode.

This is the toy shop in the Queens Arcade, where the mannequins came out in the very first episode

This is the spot where that poor sod who kept a website tracking sightings of The Doctor met his untimely end, at the hands of the aforementioned mannequins.

This is the street where Rose's mother nearly got killed by the mannequins, after fleeng the same shopping centre. There is actually no wedding dress shop on this street, and it's pedestrianised so even if there was actually a London bus stop there, no bus would be able to go past! lol!

This is the St David's Market, where they filmed the final scenes of the first episode, when Rose decides to ditch poor Mickey and join The Doctor on his travels. In the distance you can see the oddly shaped roof of the nearby UGC cinema.

This is a shot of the National Museum of Wales - featured in one of the later episodes, when the female member of the Slyvean family posed as Cardiff's Mayor. They used the grand steps at the front to pose as the steps to City Hall - probably looked more dramatic than have them just walk in! lol!

Augh, you've gone and made me dearly miss Europe now. I love the architecture and the setup of the streets, the _really_ simple setup they have for stores and shops... everything seems so CLEAN over there, too.

And even moreso because of the fact that I had to drive through Wilmington, Delaware today. What a filthy, nasty city!

*grins* Unfortunately, there's a reason why it was so clean - it was nine am....

Cardiff is quite a pretty city, with lots of history - but it's certainly not clean, alas...

Oooh, thanks! Dang, do I wake Phaed up to see these now or wait until later....

*chuckles* I can try....

Some friends of mine - major Whovians - were able to peek in on shooting sessions. Including ones outside the Cardiff Royal Infirmary, which played the 'Albion Hospital' in a couple of episodes.

Plus they spotted a few Daleks, even though I don't recall seeing them out on the streets in the series...
