Kindle Kindle Kindle!

I have to say, I am well impressed with the delivery speeds I've had from Amazon recently! I ordered a bunch of things on Wednesday, on the slower 'super saver' delivery option; one of which was waiting when I got home yesterday, and two more arrived this morning. The rest was pre-ordered so I have to wait till they're released.

I was absolutely mortified though; the intercom went off around half eleven this morning, but I've had so many people treating me like the block's doorman that I refuse to answer unless I'm expecting someone (so if you're dropping in on me unannounced, make sure you've got my mobile number so you can call me from upstairs and ask to be let in! *grin*) I looked out the window, and saw what looked like a postman - despite the fact the postman had already been, and the Trade button on the intercom had been disconnected for the day. I was aware that my new Kindle was en route, so I swore and high-tailed it upstairs to try and catch him before he was gone.

Now, keep in mind that it was Saturday morning and I had no plans to go anywhere today. So I had been lounging around in the living room, in my nightshirt... Hadn't even brushed my hair!

So I had to grab the longest coat I own, and my slip-on shoes before I could run upstairs. I can only imagine what a sight I must have been, in a wool coat that fell just below my hips, bed head and completely bare legs! *shudders*

But! I now have my Kindle! And it is absolutely awesome! :-D In order to justify the expense, I transferred the .pdf files of my current course's text books so that I can study whenever, where-ever. It's not foolproof, as the text is quite small and not all of the pages are laid out in a way that allows me to zoom in and still see the entire width of the paragraph. But I can live with that!

Also downloaded book one of David Eddings' 'Elenium' series, 'cause I never managed to finish reading Dad's set. Who knows, I may actually manage this time!

Those stories plus; has anyone else seen the adverts for 'Chatman' that are running through the Phineas And Ferb marathon? Wondering if it's worth getting that for Rowan for Christmas... seems to be useful at training kids in good online chat skills.

Have you checked out the free Kindle books yet that are offered on Amazon? Not only the classics, but newer releases, some quite good. The free "special limited time offers" are updated daily, and you can also get the site to list the top 100 free and paid books for Kindle.

Yes indeed! When I was first flirting with the idea of getting one I looked at the freebies - I have quite a few on a wishlist! :-)

I downloaded Homer's Iliad today - makes me sound like an egghead or something, but actually it's one of the texts we're going to be studying later on for my course ;-)
