Quick update on Sym...

It's really hard to say how he's doing right now. I gave him some cod liver oil yesterday, which he was very unimpressed with, but I woke up this morning to find some little tiny deposits in various places, and he even managed to pass a small stool inside his tray during the breakfast period. And he actually took some breakfast, after not having eaten since Wednesday. Still not drinking much, though I think he had a couple of gulps from the bowl in the living room a few minutes back.
He seems slightly less bunged up now, though the base of his tail is still raised up somewhat. It's also leaking very slightly, which is unpleasant and quite smelly. I'm hoping thats a sign that whatever's there is loosening and he'll be able to expell it soon.
I haven't taken him down to the vet so far - but before anyone frets about this fact, let me explain that he finds being taken anyplace very traumatic. When he had blood in his stools two Augusts ago, the numerous journeys to the vets got him so stressed out he developed constipation then too. So I want to check that the combination of milk on wednesday night and cod liver oil thursday night hasn't made any difference before I put him through that.
I also went hunting for some canned pumpkin today, since that's apparently very helpful too. I've never seen it in any of the shops I usually go to, but I thought perhaps it might be on sale at Wally's Delicatessan, since they sell what I consider to be really unusual stuff. They didn't, as it happens, but they were able to tell me that it's available in the Food Hall of Howells department store down the road (known to the Who fans on my flist as Hendricks, the store Rose used to work at). Sure enough, I found it in their American section, so I picked up a can. Would have liked to grab some oreos too, since they sell Chocolate Double Stuf, but they wanted six quid a packet! It's like trying to buy Pot Noodle in Ohio, the prices are so ridiculous!
So I'm gonna see how Sym reacts to a spoonful of that in his food tonight - hopefully he'll be hungry, though he's not come up to ask to be fed yet. He has been coming up to ask for attention, and he's been trying to get up on the sofa with us - but since he accidentally dripped a little on my shoe this evening? Not happening, sorry love...
Gonna monitor him through the weekend and if he's still not going on Monday he's definitely going down to Butetown, regardless. Thankfully I'm off work for the next fortnight so I can just take him whenever I can get an appointment for. He did seem slightly more himself today, so I'm hopeful he's on the mend. Been very odd getting up the last couple of mornings, going into the bathroom and not having him yell at me from the other side of the door, though!
