...since the work I'm doing right now is mind-numbing in its routine-ness.

Fics I sometimes wish I could write, because of the job I do;

A due South story where Ray gets grief from the Underwriters about the number of claims/changes of vehicle done since a Mr B Fraser got placed onto his policy. With a side-thing where they're a little curious about why Mr Vecchio's voice seems to have changed...

(I don't imagine I could do this properly anyway, since US car insurance is apparently quite different from the UK.)

A Torchwood story where Ianto's having to make another claim regarding the SUV, and also taking Owen and Tosh off the policy....

(I have a feeling this story wouldn't hold water anyway, though, since I don't imagine they can get regular insurance for the SUV for a number of reasons - I suspect all costs there are covered in-house, as it were.)

Meh....I don't have the creative brain-power right now anyway. But it would be a momentary amusement for me. :-)

Right, back to the brain-melty....times like this I wish I could drink coffee. Plus I'm having a sugar-crash since there was a charity cake-sale this morning and Jo brought in some more of her brownies....

*laughs* That would make a great Due South story. I can imagine all the back and forth dialog between Ray and Fraser and some blaming going on. The topper would have to be once again damaging the car at the end of the story. ;-)

*mock glares at you* Appropriate iconage, sweetie... ;-)

I've mulled that plot bunny over for many months, but I just can't figure out how I'd write it.

Hee!

I certainly don't work in the insurance industry but I'd be happy to help as much as I can. Which Ray do you have in mind?

I think it would be a RayK story, where he's perhaps a little narked at the hike in his premium at renewal time?

Okay! :)

The GTO is of course his baby. He's going to try and keep it in as nice a condition as he possibly can. Have you thought about making the story related to his use of department cars? He wouldn't give a rat's a** about the condition of the cruisers. His individual insurance as a detective though is probably handled through the department. Maybe his record and subsequent insurance change gets red flagged by the LT. And funny consequences ensue.

R: "How am I supposed to-"
Lt: "Walk."
R: "Oh hell no."
Lt: "Walk or sit behind your desk for the next two weeks."
R: *...* "Right. Walk. I can do that."

Maybe he ends up hijacking some poor civilian's car in the end for an important chase since he doesn't have a car at that particular moment and ends up wrecking IT! ;-)

Hmmm...company car insurance is not something I'm familiar with at all.

I think what I had in mind was that he's had to inherit RayV's insurance, and is now insuring the GTO after the last Riv got totalled. It's now time for renewal, and the underwriters are seriously rating on the large number of claims (and changes of vehicle - all Riv's till now! *wink*) in the last year or so since Ben got put on the policy.

He's calling to ask why he's being rated on so heavily (since he can't remember most of these incidents, unsurprisingly), and also has to go through the hurdle of remembering RayV's birthdate. ;-)

Hee - glad to hear the idea doesn't suck. Not sure how it'd turn out if I actually tried to write it though.

OMG! That's hilarious. I would love to see that , especially if it involved Fraser mildly snarking about "if we were in Canada and auto insurance was a crown corp, the RCMP office would have handled it in house by now, meh meh meh meh"

A Torchwood story where Ianto's having to make another claim regarding the SUV, and also taking Owen and Tosh off the policy....

Considering I just watched Countrycide, wherein the Trorchwood-mobile takes a lot of abuse, I am in hysterics over this one. WANT. I mean, you're even Welsh so you could put a lot of realistic details in. And Ianto does say he cleans up thier messes, which might involve this sort of thing.
