I'm watching The Ark In Space, from Tom Baker's tenure, and I can't help giggling at the special make-up they have for the Alien-du-jour...
Bubblewrap painted green!
Ah, show.... :-)

Date: 2008-08-23 10:33 pm (UTC)And if shows like Quantum Leap are already looking dated, who knows what we'll think of any other shows in thirty years. I was watching the end of a Cadfael episode earlier, which is only about fifteen years old, and it looked much older. Technology is scary, especially in the entertainment media.

Date: 2008-08-25 10:31 pm (UTC)I would like to show them to my kids, but part of me really doesn't. Oh, well. I have my favorite (Invasion of Time) on my Netflix list, so maybe some day I will re-watch. Until then, I can live on in blissful ignorance. *g*

Date: 2008-08-26 07:41 pm (UTC)Heh - I know what you mean...the shows are rapidly losing that vital something that endears them to a brand new audience. I couldn't take Ark In Space or Revenge Of The Cybermen seriously at all, but I can bet you I would have been cowering into my Dad's side at the original broadcast.
Did confirm what an awesome actress Elizabeth Sladen is, though. I can't wait for season two of The Sarah Jane Adventures in a month or so. :-)
