What happened to my baby?

Rowan decided that he was going to go see his Nan on his own this morning.

She's only a couple of blocks away, so this is no big deal, except for the busy main road between her estate and mine. There is, however, an underpass beneath the road (well, really, where else would it be?) that he can use to get across safely.

Now, I've maintained recently that age seven is when he not only has to start helping me out more around the house, but he also starts getting given more responsibility for his own actions. So I reluctantly agreed to let him do this, on the proviso that I came out part of the way myself and watched him safely over the other side.

But jeez....seeing him emerge on the other side, all lanky and confident....where did the last six and a half years go?

And in a week and a half, I start dropping him off at the Junior school building, not the Infants...

Where does the time go?

Are you about this morning, or are you busy?

I'm here for a little while, sweetie. Said I'd see them in a couple of hours. :-)

The day I realized my baby cousin whose diapers I changed has gone off to colledge and has a steady girlfriend I sat down on the couch with a mug of tea and felt very, very, old.

But at the same time, I looked at her, who she is, and felt very, very, good.

The universe is unfolding as it should - it just does it so damn quickly in hindsight.

Oh tell me about it! My eldest nephew is eighteen, dating and licensed to drive *boggles* And his little brother just did his high school exams. And that's just two of them; I have a total of five nephews and three nieces - only three of which are under four, with the rest teenagers....

The thing is, I don't often feel especially old myself. I frequently wonder if I slept through my twenties.
