An ocean of calamine lotion!

I managed to get sunburn on my right shoulder yesterday *winces*

We're finally getting to the nice weather here, so Mam suggested a trip to the beach. We got there for about noon, just an hour past high-tide (we got delayed 'cause of Rowan's dance class), and it was looking pretty promising, despite how overcast the morning had started. The weather forecast for the afternoon was for about twenty-four degrees celcius, so we were armed with the highest factor suncream possible due to Rowan's complexion. We all shared it, since there's no real point buying separate factors for us adults, but I forgot I had a vest-top on and only put the cream up my arms, not over my shoulders *winces* Rowan tried to help me put calamine on it last night, but he wasn't sure what he was doing, bless him.

My Nan came with us, for the first time since I was a kid. Mam didn't think she'd want to, but I called her anyway and she was totally up for it. She hasn't had many opportunities to go out and about in recent years, what with my Grampy's health; it's not that he didn't want her to get out of the house sometimes, but Nan would have been constantly worrying about him. Plus, if he was having a bad day, he would sometimes get a bit grumpy at being left out. So it was easier for her to just stay home and look after him. Now, of course, she can do as she pleases, and it's sometimes quite hard to track her down! lol! She seemed to have a great time, as she was very cheerful when we dropped her home, and asked us to let her know when we planned to go again. Very much of the yay :-)

I'm now making the most of the fact I'm home on another sunny day, to get my washing dried on the line for a change. I tend to fall behind with the non-clothing washing, 'cause I'm reluctant to put them in the tumble dryer for how ever long it'd take to dry the damn things. The towels especially, as they're very absorbent. Sym's loving having full access to the garden again, though he's still spending most of his time asleep on the living room carpet. I think he just likes having the fresh air through the doorway ;-)

Glad your gran is getting out more, now. She sounds like she's trying to make up for lost time :P

I think that's exactly what it is :-)

Dad and I think its great - Mam's a little huffy about it. But then she seems to think her grief's at least equal Nan's :-p

*rolls eyes* Your mum seems to come off as somewhat self-centred...

Yeah...*sigh* Maybe I'm misreading her, but there are times I want to strangle her.

I haven't liked the sun or beach in years and now I'm adoring the good weather.

And it's probably just me but I love the smell of calamine! :D

I get down the beach a couple of times a month during the summer these days - it's a relatively cheap day out for the boy ;-)

Plus Barry Island will always have a place in my heart, since I lived there when I was a toddler.

Hee - I can understand what you mean. :-) I have a similar reaction to Germoline.
