May. 13th, 2008 08:32 pmHad my annual appraisal at work today - so that's out of the way for another year *relief* Not that I ever expect to still be working there when the next one comes due.
It was the most informal appraisal yet; my manager, supervisor and I went to one of the pubs down the road from the office, and chatted over soft drinks. I think we spent maybe twenty minutes out of the hour on the necessary forms, and the rest of the time just talking. My manager's having her first baby in the Autumn, so there was plenty to talk about there. I was dreading getting lectured about my productivity but, while there was a couple of minutes discussion about that, it was generally a very pleasant hour. Unlikely to remain that way though, since not only is my manager going on Maternity leave, the supervisor's getting transferred to a phones team shortly. :-p
We didn't go to football this afternoon; when I picked the kids up, Isaac looked really down in the dumps. I queried what was wrong, and he said his stomach hurt, so we decided we'd just take him home. His dad had already collected his little brother Aaron from the nursery class, so we headed through the parks towards Isaac's new house. Would have been easier if they hadn't recently moved from their old place behind the school, but heh.
It was a very nice walk, through all the parks in Roath; the Recreation Grounds, the Flower Gardens, the Lake and the Wild Woods. I'd never actually been in the last section before. It took a while, though, since the kids were dawdling a great deal. Isaac was in good spirits pretty quickly, so I suspect he just wasn't in the mood to go to football and hadn't thought he could get out of it. I didn't mind, as I was dreading herding the two of them down to the community centre on such a hot afternoon. The walk through the parks was much more pleasant, and the lake was gorgeous with the sunshine shimmering off it. We even saw some baby ducks down in the nature reserve at the far end! *grins* My feet were killing me by the time we got to Isaac's house though! lol!
Before I forget - again! *shame* - Tim! Thank you very much for the book you sent me for my birthday :-) I've read the first few chapters already and it looks very interesting.
Anybody else watching the new Legion Of Superheroes cartoon? It's interesting, though I have a few concerns. I don't much like this 'Superman-X' guy, though he does seem to improve as the series progresses. I also don't like the way they draw Timber Wolf - who was one of my favs back when I was reading my Dad's comics. And I keep squeeing every time Validus comes on the screen - though I don't even know how closely they're gonna stick to the original canon! lol! Also, I know I see a lot of things through slash goggles now, but the opening of the first episode had a scene with Brainiac Five on a holodeck adventure involving Superman and...oh Iesu... *giggles*
I actually do try not to see slash everywhere, I should point out. I think the vibe in 'Chuck' between Chuck and Sarah is adorable - though, I gotta admit, so is the way Morgan keeps mooning over him too, and is so jealous of Sarah, while Chuck is completely oblivious! I love how that's deliberate in the show, rather than just my own imagination; there's no way you could interpret the reunion scene in last night's episode any other way, even if the actual attraction looks rather one-sided.
Right, gonna settle down and watch Highlander on Sci-fi - and laugh at the idea of Celia Imrie as anyone's love interest... But before I go; canon gender-swap! Hee! *grins at those in the know*
