gothams3rdrobin: (fraser thoughtful)
Feeling kinda strange at the moment...I'm wondering if perhaps we're already at that day in January where the human body's had about as much as it can take of the poor light conditions - plus we're all skint and payday seems so far away - hence we get extra depressed. 'Cause I have as many reasons to be in a good mood right now as I do to be sad. Yet here I am.

It was tutorial day again today but I didn't log in. This worries me. Plus I need to get a move on with assignment two, but I've barely glanced at my text books for weeks.

Gah, okay - focusing on the good things; Rowan had a hell of a busy weekend, with my employers throwing their annual children's christmas party on saturday - a sign Christmas is finally over. Plus he helped me take down the decorations on friday after Mam reminded me it was Twelfth Night.

After the party, which was at the Coal Exchange down the Bay (which is apparently closing this year - wtf?) we walked down the road to the Millennium Centre (known to everyone else as that big brown place next to Torchwood HQ, with the proverb on the wall) where one of the other mums from school was taking him to see a clown show as a delayed birthday present. He came back in a stellar mood, having had a great time.

We also made a point of going to see the water tower above Torchwood, though Rowan has no idea yet of its significance. He was very curious about what's beneath it, but mainly in a 'what makes the water flow like that?' kind of way. I seriously think they should get the Torchwood logo carved on the special paving stone where no-one can see you - it's already something of a tourist attraction.

Though it occurs to me that I have no idea where the 'public entrance' to Torchwood is....

Sunday he wasn't going up to see his Dad, as the FIL was working (the MIL sent me a text five minutes before the normal pickup time to remind me...*scowls*), so we had a lazy morning. Then we got a text from Tim inviting us out to see Eragon that evening, so out we went. I was a little anxious, 'cause Rowan claims to be afraid of dragons and whimpered all the way through the firework show we saw New Years Eve, which told the wierd story of the dragon as the fifth element or something. But the fact you see the dragon hatch, watch it grow up and know she's one of the 'good guys' seemed to help. I think it was the first live action film he's sat through in the cinema, which is quite an achievement really, even if he was pestering me for my cherry coke every five seconds...

I picked up his gift from the christmas party today, since we couldn't stay for the whole thing (seriously - a four hour children's party? Are they mental??) - a Simpsons scalextrics set! *boggles* The things they give the kids blow me away every year, especially since the admission only costs me a fiver.

*sigh* Ah well...wonder if I can force myself to go wash the dishes before I collapse in bed. There's two days worth, 'cause Tim came back after the movie and I made an attempt at spag bol.

No. Probably not.
