Oh what a night...
Oct. 4th, 2006 10:06 pm*resists urge to start singing...*
I'm surviving my cold in my usual style - pain killers and denial ;-)
Rowan was a little silly this afternoon when I collected him - 'cause I was a couple of minutes late due to traffic. They've started letting the Reception class out first, just before school technically ends, 'cause the playground turns into something of a cattle market at hometime with the teachers trying desperately to link the kids with their correct adult. So if I miss that first bus, which I often do, Rowan now has to wait on the ramp for me - which he doesn't appreciate 'cause he's young enough to worry I won't show *rolls eyes affectionately*
After school I took him into town as we needed to get him some new pajamas. Kid's growing like a weed but, typically, he's still in between sizes. And a lot of the shops make clothes that will fit him now, but not for long, or ones that won't fit him for another six months.
You can imagine which ones I tend to go for. Case in point is this evening's outfit, since we had a toilet emergency while shopping. Poor kid kept having to pull them up all the time.
My paternal grandfather got admitted to hospital yesterday with bowel problems - nothing too serious, he's just getting old *attempts to sound blasé* I didn't know till gone seven last night, so we went this evening to see him. He seemed fine as always, especially since they've helped him get some relief at least. We just have to hope they can sort him out and send him home again soon.
I was dreading a scoulding, since my parents got it in the neck when they visited on Sunday - we don't show nearly enough interest in them, you see. We never call, we never visit...*snerk* But thankfully it didn't come; maybe it was my making the effort to get to the hospital (not that easy when you're relying on public transport and dragging a four year old along) or simply a wish not to make a scene there. Whatever, I'm grateful.
We didn't get home till almost nine, so we're both pretty tired. But on the good side? While in town I popped into HMV to get a copy of Ghostbusters ready for the RPG's movie night (Got the box set for a tenner - not bad!) and what did I spot on a display? 'My Neighbour Totoro'! For a tenner! Very much of the yay, 'cause I haven't seen it in years!
Oh, and this Gay Rights meme going around? While I'm all for equal rights for everyone, I for one will not be putting that meme on my LJ. Like several others on my f-list, I object to the way the author worded it, implying that not posting it means I'm a homophobe. If you want to post it in your own LJ, cool. Just don't expect me to.
Meh..if that came across as bitchy then I'm sorry. I'm just really not in a good mood this evening.
