Lets hope things improve from here...
Oct. 3rd, 2006 11:24 amSo far my opinion of how this month is shaping up is not too great...
Saturday saw 'Son of Sports Night Chat', which was very much of the yay and I even managed to take part while Rowan was in the room. However, beforehand I had to endure a shopping trip with both my parents, which is never ever fun. Dad was in a foul mood, as usual, and while I somewhat sympathise with his frustration at being dragged to the shops for the third day in a row I do wish he'd quit sulking.
I took Rowan home by about two o'clock as he was tired and getting very naughty. Mam and Dad had looked after him the night before, so their patience with him was wearing thin anyway. So once we were home I, somehow,
managed to talk him into going to his room for a nap; we negotiated that he should stay in his room until the clock on the wall said three o'clock, since he was obviously very tired and it would make him feel better
*chuckles* In the end he slept till four thirty and called out "Mummy! Can I get up now?"
It meant that he stayed up much, much later than he normally would, but he was pretty good. He played on the floor with his toys for a while, letting me continue to watch Sports Night and talk to everyone in the chatroom.
I wasn't in the mood to do anything once I sent him to the in-laws on Sunday, especially after I ended up chatting to Dad for about three hours! So I just messed around for the rest of the day reading fic. Got an early
night too that evening - not that it helped 'cause I haven't stopped feeling tired all week. I suspect I may be coming down with something since my throat's been scratchy too. *shrug*
Yesterday started very badly as Rowan left his lunch bag in the kitchen, so I had to run home and get it. Ended up a couple of minutes late for work, though my manager was alright about it when I explained. Didn't get my head in the game work-wise though - I haven't for a few days now. I also moved desks again, but I'm used to that so it's no biggie. At least I now have a window desk - and custody of one of the radios! *grins* I can now hear Radio One clearly while I work, instead of expending half my focus trying to listen to it.
Today I did something that I knew was foolish, but I did it anyway; The postman tried to deliver a package on saturday, just after I left for the day, and I wasn't able to get hold of them yesterday despite calling them
every thirty seconds for a whole hour while travelling on the bus. I called them at eight, when they first opened, but no-one bothered to answer the phone even though I kept it ringing for five minutes....*grrr* So today I decided to try and get over to the dispatch office, which is way out in the Boonies and takes a couple of bus journeys, before taking Rowan to school.
This would have worked great if I hadn't left my phone at home, as the walk to the Business Park took longer than I remembered. There was no phone in the local area (one of the negative aspects of the advent of mobile phones) so we ended up risking the bus, since we couldn't call a taxi. Two bus rides later we got to the school, but a few minutes late...*sigh* Gonna have to make sure he's on time from now on.
*sighs* There was more I wanted to talk about, but I've lost my train of thought and my lunch break's about to finish anyway... catch you guys later!
