*collapses in exhaustion*
Jun. 25th, 2006 12:35 pmI haven't done this much cleaning in months! I've barely stopped since friday evening.
My house doesn't look like some immaculate show-home - I don't have that much enthusiasm for housework - but everything's swept/hoovered/wiped down and the only dishes in the sink are the ones I just created due to stopping for a quick lunch.
I have bedding drying out on the line - that dark cloud over Pentwyn had better not be coming my way or else - and the patio detrius has been swept away. Why there was an old tea bag and the fragrance bottle from an Oust diffuser in my backyard I do not know. I suspect my neighbours of throwing things out their windows in laziness...
My old housemate Tim and another old friend called Nigel are coming over to see me today - the first time they've visited me in the flat. Which is kinda pathetic considering I've been here a year now but I couldn't bare to let them come see the place while the bathroom trouble was ongoing. The place isn't perfect now, but it's at the level where my friends would be prepared to ignore the odd unpacked box or two.
I even went so far as to sweep and mop the staircase and hallway outside my door, since the council employees haven't been by for a couple of weeks. Isn't that pathetic? I never thought I'd be the kind of person who sweeps their section of the pavement outside their house, like they used to up in the Valleys a generation or so ago. I think some people still do.
I'm grateful the council chose last week to come redecorate the exterior and hallways though. The walls are freshly painted, the wooden security doors re-varnished and my tatty red front door is now a very vibrant green!
Well, they should be here in about fifteen minutes, so I better go! Catch you all on the flip side!
