gothams3rdrobin: (dan & casey - pleading)
This is another one I wrote some months ago, but have been tinkering with ever since.

It's a Sports Night Dan/Casey story, though there's nothing graphic. I haven't reached the point where I could write anything above a PG... *grin* I guess you could call it a song-fic - it was inspired by a song, and lines get quoted. But there's none of those irritating paragraphs that are basically just verses of the song.

[livejournal.com profile] phoebesmum very kindly beta'd this for me, correcting my punctuation and offering alternative phrasing in places where I was struggling. Thank you very much hon!

Herein lies fic. )

Saturday I had to go buy myself a new washing machine as my washer-dryer has finally given up the ghost. I decided to get myself a washing machine and dryer separately, and managed to find a deal for about the same as I would have paid for a bottom-of-the-line combi. The only problem is that my new dryer is one of those ones that needs a vent-pipe stuck out of either the wall or a window - and in order to do that I have to pull the machine out from under the counter and tie it to the handle of the window. It's a lightweight machine, thank goodness, but that's still a pain.

On the upside, when it arrived on monday (at the ungodly hour of 8am, I hasten to point out) I got through about five loads of washing. This is much of the yay.

Sunday was my neice Katie's christening. It went pretty well, all in all. I was unaware up until then that my sister-in-law's Anglican, but thankfully it wasn't a particularly ornate service. I think the last time I was at an Anglican service was when we were visiting my parents friends in North Wales, when I was about thirteen; at the time, Dad's friend was a priest. I also went to the services where he became a Deacon and later a Priest, as well as another of Dad's university friends - in that one I met the previous Archbishop of Canterbury, who was Bishop of Bath and Wells at the time.

Dad complained a little as we left the church that the place had smelt a little too much of insense for his liking. He says that's why he chose Methodism over the Anglican church.

The party afterwards went well, though it was in a tatty old Social Club - I can't stand places like that. Especially when there are people smoking near me. There was also a bingo game going on in the bar downstairs and the numbers were being called over the tanoy - all the way through the building. Very distracting. But at least I got to cuddle my little Katie-Bear for quite a nice little while. Dad didn't get a look-in, as she asked me to pick her back up when I passed her to him for a cuddle *laughs*

The annoying thing about Bank Holiday Mondays is that tuesday always feels wierd. You keep thinking it's monday and it takes a few days to get your head around it.

Today my sister and her husband called round for the first time since I moved in almost a year ago; we've swapped fridges and freezers as the kitchen in their new place doesn't allow for an upright fridge-freezer, and I had two separates. My last place had the same problem, so I was forced to buy ones that would fit under the counters. I am mourning the loss of my applicances though - my grandparents gave me the money for them and they're only three years old. The new fridge-freezer's quite old, and several of the drawers are missing, but at least it's a small fridge with a big freezer. My own freezer was always overflowing, where my fridge was so bare it looked worse than a students! *laughs*

I'm absolutely dreading friday as my annual appraisal is due. I always dread them, but this year more than ever. I've been know to cry during the monthly one-to-one's in the past, so god help me...
