Busy Saturday
Feb. 18th, 2006 09:01 pmIt was just me and the rugrat today, as Mam went up to North Wales yesterday to surprise a friend at her birthday celebration.
So after a lazy morning, we headed down the Bay and played a round of Ten Pin Bowling - Rowan's first go! We had a few problems with the lane - the mechanisms crashed at both the start and the end - but we had a good time. Rowan loved every minute of it, and scored pretty well. We had the buffers up, and there was a special wire frame for him to roll the ball down. I think he only beat me by about ten points - the scoreboard crashed at the end, so I don't know for certain. But he only beat me by that little 'cause having the barriers there worked to my advantage too *wink* I haven't been that great at bowling lately.
After that, we got cinema tickets and went into the Doctor Who exhibition while we waited. Rowan was a little unsettled by the life-size Slyveen and the Dalek that turned to look at him! *chuckles*
The film we saw was Chicken Little - not a bad kiddie movie, okay for adults if you like your kid-films with a large helping of 'What The Fuck?' on the side.... it's very confusing till you find out what the hell's actually going on.
Going home was a little un-nerving - there were two people at my bus-stop dealing with another friend who was either extremely sick, extremely drunk, or stoned out of his brain. Whatever it was, he couldn't hold himself up on his own two feet and he was mumbling pretty incoherently. I ushered Rowan past them, holding him close, then had to keep yanking him back when he wanted to go sit down - this group hadn't made much progress at this point so he would have had to pass them to get to the bench.
Add this to the drunkard in the wolf mask who accidentally wacked me in the back of the head as he got off the bus into town at two that afternoon? Sometimes I hate buses...
