Well, this is a familiar scenario....
One in the afternoon and I'm scrabbling around for work....
My supervisor just got back off lunch, but he's dealing with a handler who
needs to go home - possible residual food poisoning from Christmas, if I've
overheard correctly.
You'd think we'd be swamped after four days off, but surprisingly we're not.
Could it be that the majority of our customers have finally realised that we
don't work over the Christmas bank holidays either? Surely not...
I was expecting to come in to at least half a dozen "Why didn't you answer
the phone when I called you on Saturday/Sunday (no I'm not
joking!)/Monday/Tuesday!!!" emails, but so far nothing.
On the flipside, I think I'm totally justified in being rather...irritated
myself because I couldn't call the Council's repair reporting line this
morning. For some reason the Council always takes an extra day off when
there're these kinds of holidays - I muttered about this on Sunday to my
Uncle, but he seemed to think it was quite reasonable. But it means I have
to wait till tomorrow before I can report that I haven't had any hot water
since Friday evening....again.
While I'm grateful that we have statutory holidays - and that I work in a
trade that doesn't make me work on those days (thank goodness I got out of
the supermarket...) - this is really annoying.
