Semi-productive day
Sep. 24th, 2005 08:18 pmSo we're due to go away for the week on monday morning. Off to the wilds of North Wales - or the 'Orth Wales Jungle' as Rowan told my Uncle John today! *chuckles*
So there was stuff to get done today - one of which was to put up my curtain rail in my living room. My flat is one of the few with a patio door leading out into the garden, and the windows are either side so it requires a very long curtain pole. Three meters, in fact, and those are a bugger to find.
Mam came over this morning, ready to drill holes for the support brackets, but found there was a supporting beam there she couldn't drill into, so we're having to jerryrig with some wood offcuts from the DIY store which we can nail into the wall and attach the supports too. While we were in the retail park we went into ASDA and did the little bit of shopping we need for the trip.
By this time it was getting close to noon, so we dropped the shopping off and headed up the mountains to my Aunt's cafe in Brecon. I ended up spending half the time in their living room watching the news coverage of Hurricane Rita while Rowan ate his sausage and chips, and Mam helped out in the cafe for a while. We did go out into Brecon for a walk, as Mam was on the hunt for a light, rainproof winter jacket, and we ended up buying Rowan some new trainers as he's starting to outgrow his shoes. He had the choice of Spiderman or Batman, and he chose Batman!
I love my son. He's so easily encouraged!
We eventually left that shop with the trainers, and a 'Dark Knight' art set for him to use while we're in the caravan. I also bought myself a 'Dark Knight' pencil case. *grins*
What?? ;-)
On the way home, we called into another ASDA - actually considered to be a Wal*Mart - looking for some stuff I need for the flat. Didn't find it, but came away with a complete set of new trousers for Rowan, as well as a few other odds and sods - plus a Batman dressing gown for him! *grins* I was only showing it to him, but he insisted on having it! *laughs*
We then ended up at a third ASDA - the one my mother works at - to pick up the item I needed as none of the other stores had it. Mam and Rowan stayed in the car, as I was only running inside to get this one thing, and he'd had enough of ASDA by this time! *grins*
We then went back to my parents house, and had chicken curry and rice from the chippie before I headed home. Rowan's sleeping there tonight, as promised him by his nan. Ah, peace and quiet....
Well, aside from a whining ginger tom-cat...
