May. 6th, 2005 04:23 pmGot called home early from work today - the rugrat has picked up the chicken pox that's rife through the city schools right now. Naturally, he's not allowed back at the nursery for at least a week.
He's ok in himself, though he's been tired enough today that he's actually asleep right now on the sofa. We were cuddling while listening to one of my cds, and off he drifted.
Actually had a very silly moment while listening to the first disc; it's the greatest hits of The Jacksons. Some people may scoff, but when I was a kid, Michael was my absolute idol - I pretty much worshipped the ground he walked on, and his styles of music seemed to mirror the way my tastes were changing as I grew older.
I don't know what to make of him these days, and I really don't know if I believe what they say about him. All I know is that he became this strange, unrecogniseable person - in behaviour as much as appearance - and I no longer seemed to enjoy the majority of the music he was producing. But I will always, always adore the stuff I grew up on.
So this afternoon, I was listening to the Jacksons' take on 'Ain't No Sunshine', and I nearly misted up. I felt really sad for that innocent, seemingly happy young man that is now so lost to us.
Crazy, huh?
The election went pretty much as expected - Labour are back in power, so we're stuck with Tony Blair till he decides it's time he retired. They have a reduced number of seats in Parliment though. The leader of the Conservatives, Michael Howard, is talking about stepping down, claiming he'll be too old to run at the next general election - yeah, whatever Michael. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.
Meh - apart from my enforced week off work, for which I'm gonna have to sacrifice holiday time or not get paid, things are pretty much status quo. A friend of mine that I'm rather worried about popped online for about two seconds, before vanishing again - which is comforting in it's own way. Mean's my friend's in one peice, unless it was the room-mate using the computer. I'm telling myself it wasn't.
