No, you are not allowed to be getting sleepy at eight thirty in the soddin' evening! It's only half an hour till the Torchwood double-bill starts, and I want to be conscious for the second episode!

*sigh* Sometimes I think it's a mistake to settle down on the couch with my boy and my moggy, to watch tv. Even if it is the Twins/Yankees Spring Training game. If my attention's not being held, I invariably start shutting down. And I'm so far gone tonight my flist's not helping keep me awake :-(

It's been a busy week so far; it feels like a Thursday, as I've been working since Monday thanks to my new shift patterns. It was fun getting to start my working week with an hour in the pub - otherwise known as the team meeting! ;-) - but it seems my colleagues have begun a feud with the staff of The Crockerton regarding whether or not the door has to be kept open (the guys claim there's a horrid draft) and we ended up walking out and going to another bar from the same chain. *chuckles* The only problem there was that The Crockerton has a great big table perfect for seating up to fifteen people, whereas in Central Bar we had to drag three four-seater tables together.

Yesterday, Rowan and I had to get ourselves from the school to a local community hall within half an hour, so he could attend football training; his regular classes appear to have been cancelled and the community hall we normally go to for gymnastics classes closed last week so they can rebuild better facilities on-site. This means everyone has to find alternative venues, including the indoor football classes Rowan's friend Isaac was attending. Rowan had a good time, though I couldn't help but wonder just what Rowan learned over the months he went to the outdoor classes on Sunday mornings, 'cause he was still mostly hovering on the sidelines like he was afraid of the ball. He's enthusiastic though, so I have to give him a chance. And this new class costs a quarter of what we were being charged before! We're taking Isaac with us next week too, see what he thinks, and another lad called Jamie may also be joining us.

Tonight we went back again for gymnastics, but this wasn't quite as successful. The teachers running Rowan's normal class have transfered to a leisure centre in Splott, but that's quite a walk from school, and very difficult to get to by bus. There's several kids in Rowan's year who were attending the old class, and I get on with their mothers, so we all discussed how we were going to proceed from this week onwards; it was decided that we'd go to the other class in the same community hall as Rowan's football classes. However, this is a class that caters for the under fives as well, so Rowan, Jamie and Cameron were suddenly amoungst the most proficient in the class, and Cameron's older sister Charlotte is way beyond the level of the class. I think we're gonna carry on with it, just to give the boys a physical outlet, but I don't know how much more Rowan's going to learn there. We shall have to see.

We'll be finishing the Saturday morning swimming lessons for a while too. We were supposed to pre-register for the next course this weekend just gone, and Rowan was all for continuing, but my ticket number hadn't been called by the time his class finished. I could have gone back up, but it seems Rowan had a bad lesson that day and had the teacher on his back a lot, so he asked if he could stop at the end of this course. I promised him at the start I would leave the decision up to him, provided he finished the first course, so I agreed. (And naturally it was a relief not to have to shell out thirty-five quid...) We're gonna spend the next while taking the occasional trip to the pool just for fun, once the weather improves. Hopefully then he'll be better prepared to restart his lessons.

Can't say I'll miss the early starts on Saturday mornings....
