My grandfather's in hospital at the moment, in a hospital that's quite a fair distance away. I'd wanted to go and see him last night, but Mam was too tired to drive me out there. She said she'd take me after work tonight, but she wasn't sure what time she was finishing - I said fine, just let me know when.

It's seven pm now, and she's not called me.

I don't know if I should call her to find out what's going on - visiting ends in an hour, from what my Dad told me, and Grampy's gonna be too tired to have company this late in the evening.

Guess I'll have to go myself on the bus after work tomorrow, since Rowan's playing at Megan's house again.

I'm so sorry to hear it. Goodness, there's a lot of bad stuff going round my FL at the moment. It's pretty late to do anything now - by the time you got there, it'd be time to go home again - so I guess going on the bus tomorrow would be the best thing, if Rowan's being taken care of (that sounded more sinister than I meant it to). Even if the journey's a bit of a slog, it'll be worth it for your grandfather to feel cared about, and you not to feel guilty about not seeing him.

I hope he feels better soon.

Yeah, he's living with prostate cancer and the meds they had him on made him lose the use of his legs last week - Nan said he fell over a couple of times. They're getting him sorted out, and he's generally fine otherwise. As fine as you can get when you're seventy-nine, anyhow.

I just called Mam, 'cause Rowan was nagging me, and it turns out she had her wires crossed *rolls eyes* I had been planning to take Rowan to the Wednesday night gymnastics class instead of the Friday night, but since the only other chance Mam would have to take me would be Thursday - after a long trip to Swansea with her own job - I decided we'd carry on with the Friday class just one more week. She wasn't sure when she'd finish, so I told her to let me know - she apparently came away from the conversation thinking I was taking Rowan to gym tonight *sighs*

So yeah, since I don't need to pick up Rowan for an extra two and a half hours, I'll be heading out there after work. It's one bus there from the town centre, but then two buses to Megan's house. And a long walk and another bus ride back to our own place.

The upside is that Rowan tends to be out like a light on nights he plays there. Though, having said that, watch him be up till all hours tomorrow!
