Man I hate change...

They've done another desk move at work, so I came into work today to find my stuff moved to Suzi's old desk.

In fairness, they didn't just dump everything down; things were organised fairly well, taking into consideration how I kept my old desk arranged. But I still had to move a few things around, as well as tack up my pictures, plus I had to re-establish all my settings again; email signatures, printers.... *sigh*

I now have a headache from the massive, ancient monitor I now have to use too. Why they haven't scrapped them all I don't know.

They moved you in absentia?

"Um... hello? WARNING next time?!?"

Hope the headache bites the dust real soon.

Well, in fairness, I knew the move was coming. They emailed us the new arrangement on Thursday. I just wasn't quite expecting to come in this morning to find it'd already happened, since the move's to fit my manager back on the department when she gets back in the next week or so from the secondment to India.

I'm grateful to still have a window desk, but it's amazing how unsettling something like this can be. Couldn't concentrate for most of my shift, not least of all because of the headache. That's not entirely gone, I don't think, but I'm managing to periodically distract myself from it.

Yeah, I can imagine. I've never had my desk moved while I wasn't there but I think I'd be pretty unhappy about it. Not getting to move it myself.

*hugs*

Having other people move my stuff would freak me out a bit. Have these people no decency?

(maybe you can trip on your unfamiliar desk and knock that monitor to the ground)

It's a job hazard, unfortunately. Desk-moves have to happen when they happen, and if you're not there to move yourself then someone must do it for you or else the desk's new tenant can't move either, and neither can the person moving to their desk....you get the picture.

Though, a couple of moves ago, we changed floors as well as desks while I was away, and half my stuff got left behind. So the first thing I had to do that morning was get the remainder of my stuff upstairs in the lift. Not fun.

Hmmmm...yeah, that would be nice. Unfortunately, not feasible. *sighs*
