My new bed arrived this morning! *relief* So I've spent the vast majority of today constructing it, and it's all made up and ready to go!

It's 'Shaker'-style, apparently, and is chocolate-stained wood - rather darker than the picture in the Argos catalogue, but hey. I can live with it. However, it seems the woodstain had been laid on a little thick, as the heat from my hands made it stain my skin *chuckles* It looks like I've had henna put on my hands - something I haven't done in nearly twenty years - and gone to wash before it was fully dry. I've washed and washed and washed, but it looks like it's gonna be some time before it fades away.

I spent quite some time cleaning the frame with furniture polish, which seems to have done the trick. Needless to say, the dusting cloth's a write-off ;-)

Rowan had the fun of going to school in pyjamas today - and he's actually wanted to participate for once! *grins* He begged me to get his Doctor Who jammies ready for him last night, so I did. Then this morning he put them on and I covered them up with a tracksuit for the trip to school. I didn't want him getting self-conscious about the way he was dressed before he even got there. Plus it means he had clothes with him for the evening's gym class.

In the playground I saw a kid dressed up as Spongebob, and another as Robin! *giggles* And Rowan's classmates seemed suitably pleased to see the Who jammies. When I went to collect him at the end of the day, he wasn't inclined to put his gym clothes back on and we ended up going to the bakery as he was. We also ran into one of his classmates, who's name I can pronounce but never spell, and she begged and begged him to come to her house as soon as we'd been to the bakery. I wasn't sure if her mother had been willing for us to visit, but Rowan was on the verge of hysteria at the idea of not going, so we had to call in. Thankfully we were welcomed inside *is embarrassed*

So we passed some time there before gym class; it's a lovely house, right opposite the community centre where the class is held. It's also on the street I've got Ianto living on in my Torchwood WiP, so it ended up being useful research for me *chuckles* I was basing his house on the house where Rowan's friend Isaac lives, and it looks like that's pretty accurate.

We had thunder this afternoon, which is always quite cool. Freaked me out though, as my computer suddenly rebooted itself! We're not really used to the more extreme weather around here, so the sound of thunder does not make me run around unplugging all the computer equipment for fear of power surges - but you can bet I did so this afternoon! Thankfully I've got my system plugged into an extension cable with a surge protecter built in, so that probably helped.

Okay, the TMI question - directed mostly at the small handful of mothers on my list; any of you use tampons after the pregnancy/ies? I've mostly used towels since, 'cause I just couldn't feel comfortable or secure anymore, but I've been trying again this week. However I still can't shake the feeling it's gonna fall out - like my body's trying to expel it of its own volition. Never used to be like that.

It may not help that I'm using ones suitable for a heavier flow than I currently have at the moment, but it's all I had on hand. But surely, even though I had a baby that was 21" long and 8lbs 2oz, I can't have been messed up internally quite that much? Right?

*sighs* Egads I am tired...and I'm likely to be even more tired for the next little while, as I adjust to this new bed. It's certainly a lot higher up than my old one, now that I have a decent mattress at last!

I don't know how to cut in a comment, so delicate readers, please skip the following TMI.

Weird internal damage unlikely, lol. It's mostly getting used to them again, I think. Took me a while but now I'm using them again routinely (and I've had TWO, so there).

Heh - I honestly didn't think I'd been messed up that much. Maybe I'll keep trying them, but so far the experiments a failure *sigh*

Thanks for the feedback hon *hugs*

*ducks* Like I knew there was an actual thunderstorm, till the thunder rolled!

I haven't turned that system on again since, but I think it's okay.
