Mel just headed home - the place is really quiet without her! *laughs*

She's been an absolute godsend, making sure I ate something substantial and had lots of cups of tea last night. I wasn't allowed to use anything in the kitchen for the first twenty-four hours after being put under, so she was doing everything for me. Pasta and butter at eleven at night is wonderful *grins* That's my comfort food, which both she and Rowan have grown pretty fond of too.

We went to bed about one thirty, 'cause while I was groggy I wasn't prepared to sleep, and we didn't resurface till about ten o'clock. Once I'd phoned work to let them know how I was doing, we spent the rest of the day watching tv, pottering on the computer and chatting - it was nice.

I did break the rules and cook us dinner at about one this afternoon - but all that involved was just baking some fish fingers and potato waffles, and Mel was around if anything happened *shrug*

I managed to talk Mam and Dad into keeping Rowan again tonight, which will allow me to get some more rest. Quite understandably he expects me to give him the majority of my attention, but that's something I don't do so well if I'm not feeling one hundred percent. I can be a real bitch-queen when I'm sick.

There was a two-minute silence at noon this afternoon, in rememberance of the bombings in London a year ago today. Mel was surfing the cable channels and came across it quite by accident. We watched the coverage, neither of us saying a word, then afterwards we talked about what we remembered of last year. Both of us had friends working in inner-city London at the time, though thankfully none of them got hurt - but if Mel's friend Hannah hadn't slept in that day it could have been a different story. Plus another good friend of hers works for the Transport Police and was helping co-ordinate the relief efforts.

Anyone who was reading my journal last year will remember how pissed off I was - easier to be angry than frightened - as I was supposed to be going to Hyde Park the next day for a Queen concert. Thankfully that was rescheduled for the following week - though apparently the terrorists tried again then too, but were unsuccessful.

Man...I really don't understand the logic behind things like that.
