So I'm home from my holiday

The readers digest account:

Lots of rain, travelled in the car every day, bored to tears every night and most of the day.

The full account:

Travelled up on the monday, made various stops including Shrewsbury Abbey, and got to the Caravan site about six-thirty. Finished the book I was reading en route, and spent the evening colouring in a felt-picture full of celtic knots and stuff.

Travelled to Llandudno on the tuesday, spent the day there looking around the shops and the pier. Almost everything was closed down along the beach, since it's off-season. Also took a tram-ride up to the top of the Great Orme, a mountainous area alongside the town which is a nature reserve, but it was too windy to stay long.

On Wednesday we took a train ride over to the next town, a seaside town called Rhyl. Most of that was shut too and it poured with rain. We took Rowan into the sealife centre, and he really enjoyed it. Found a shop that sells comics, and found two Birds of Prey I don't have, but the owner was keeping heavy trays of CDs on top of the long boxes and it was really hard to browse. As a result, I was too irritated to buy them.

Thursday we were going to go to Port Merion, where they filmed 'The Prisoner', but the car has been playing up a little bit so Dad thought it might be best to leave that for another day. So we ended up just going out to the island of Angelsey, to a little town famous for it's extremely long name, which right now I can't remember how to spell. I first went there about seventeen years ago - it's not much of a place to visit, just one of those where you can say you've been.
From there we took a train to the other side of the island, to a town called Holyhead. This is where a lot of people get the ferry to Dublin. And to be honest, that's the only thing worth doing there. The place is a dump! Unfortunately, the station we left the car at is one of those infrequent request stops, and the next train going past wasn't for three hours....

I have never been so bored, or cold, for ages.

The evenings were horrid too, as there was nowhere to go and only five channels on the tv. And nothing on any channel. I bought a new book on tuesday to read on the way home - finished it wednesday night. Could have done some writing, but couldn't focus enough.

Friday was the day we had to check out and head home. Mam wanted to go see an old friend of hers, so we called by her place. We made several other stops along the way, including finding me a new book to read, and all in all we were travelling for about eleven hours. Just to go from one end of Wales to the other...

I love my parents dearly, but I really don't like spending all my time with them anymore. We don't have all that much to talk about, and since we moved out they're not as used to Rowan's little quirks. This means that when he acts up, I feel like I'm under the microscope. I also get fed up with the snarking between them, the way they just don't communicate properly and are both so fond of playing the martyr.... They drive me crazy.

I wanted to come home last night - as much for my own personal space as for the internet connection, though I really missed you guys. But we got home so late I had to put Rowan to bed at my parents. So we didn't get back to the house till about eleven this morning. Not really been in the mood to do much since, so we've mostly watched tv.

Still, home now.
