Well, that's that for another year. Thank god.

No tears this year, and minimum snark. Rowan loved his presents, and christmas lunch was...ok. Just the four of us, since Mam never bothered to actually ask Nan if she and my Uncle wanted to come over. And she's put as her Facebook status "...is enjoying the peace before Rowan appears for Dinner."

She then made a comment to Rowan about going home sometime after four, so we departed within the hour and had tea at home. Cauliflower-cheese bakes and oven chips. Merry Christmas.

Still, Doctor Who was fantastic.

You ever wonder how much of it is subliminally based on the fact that you're not 'with' his father? My mother had the EXACT same issue with my grandmother with James. Mum's other brothers were all married and my gran never shuts up about how wonderful they are or what they're up to. Bring my brother into the equation, and, well.

Women are mean.

I don't think it's that - though I do think her low opinion of Baz colours her reactions. I see little facial expressions and attitudes that are pure Baz, as well as some that are very like me.

Like I said to Angie, I think a lot of it is that she sees him every weekend, whereas she hardly ever sees the others. She's always getting involved in whatever we're doing, and I often can't do other stuff I want to do because she expects us to tag along with her so that she can feel she's spending time with her grandson.

Times like this, I get so tempted to agree to Mel's nagging and move to Hampshire.

You'd be surprised, really. It's likely not conscious, but I have little doubt it's there.

Familiarity breeds contempt, I suppose. Then again, what's in Hampshire that's so appealing? Other than Mel? ;)

Other than Mel? Practically nothing; it's an hour and a half's drive from the coast, and it's England. ;-p

Yeah... not much going for it, is there? :P
