Nov. 24th, 2008 12:20 pmThings have progressed quite nicely with my flat over the last weeks - I just haven't had the energy to say much about it!
Anyway...two weeks ago the decorators came in to start stripping the bedroom walls and replaster my hallway. They then had to leave it a week to let the render dry out, as they were covering that awful artexing and it had to be put on pretty thickly as a result.
So, last monday they came by again to get on with the decorating. The render was still a little patchy in places, but they reckoned it was alright to get started. Mam also had the day off work to come put lining paper up in my living room for me - Rowan got covered in paint that night! lol!
We didn't get everything done that day - the guys the Council allocate the work to are fine, but they're in no hurry, and we couldn't complete the living room in one day ourselves either - so I had to leave the workmen a key to come in on Tuesday while I was at work. Mam intended to finish the living room in the evenings herself, but then she came down with a very nasty cold virus that knocked her out for the rest of the week so we didn't get everything finished till Friday. And we had to call the painter back in again too, 'cause he missed a bit! lol!
The carpets were fitted on Saturday afternoon, by which time I was very much in the grip of Mam's cold myself. So my plans to do as much furniture building as possible on Sunday went completely by the wayside, and I spent most of the day prone on the sofa or the bed trying desperately to get some sleep.
Anyway - all we need to do now is finish building the furniture, unpack all the boxes and do some food shopping, and we can move back in. I should hear back from the insurers about Rowan's playstation soon - my bad for keeping forgetting to return the form to them *sigh* I still feel like I've been hit by a truck, but I did so much shifting around with my days off in the last two weeks that I don't dare take a sick day. Plus, because I took two days off last week instead of one, I have to work all five days this week... So unless we feel up to doing stuff in the evenings - which involves getting Dad to watch Rowan, and boy is he going to be willing to do that! *sarcasm* - it's gonna be the weekend again before we can get stuck back into it. And most of the bookcases are still in Mam's garage for the moment anyway.
