Today, Rowan was supposed to be starting in the 7-11 age group at his dance class, 'cause he was getting bored stupid by the routines for the younger class. When we spoke to Mam this morning about what she wanted to do after, since we wouldn't get out till noon, she told me in no uncertain terms that she didn't think Rowan deserved to go to dance today after the behaviour from Wednesday.
I countered that it's not fair to continue to punish a child on a Saturday for something they did - and were punished for - on Wednesday. Not only did he miss out on the nature trail, he was forced to sit in with the nursery class and wasn't permitted any tv or playstation time when he got home. And I've been getting the thumbs up each afternoon from his teacher since then. Mam, however, thinks that he's deliberately doing his acting up at the start of the week, so that he'll be off punishment by the weekend.
WTF? Does she seriously think a child of six and a half is that cunning?
However, he didn't go anyway because we ended up having a row about him going in the shower. I'd warned him over breakfast that he had to have a shower before we left, and I deliberately left it till the end of the programme he was watching before I told him he had to go wash. However, Rowan decided that he's still in that freaking-out phase about the shower at home, despite loving the one at the leisure centre. *sighs* So we argued for quite a while, till I got mad enough to say he wasn't going to dance, and it was too late for the two of us to get cleaned up and get there on time anyway. And then we argued some more, till I left the room to give us both space, and he fell asleep on the sofa.
I'm gonna wake him up for lunch soon, then he's spending the afternoon cleaning his room. And if he wants to watch Doctor Who tonight, he's going to have to get it done.
