Whee!

Our database has gone down, so I can't do any work! *twirls around in her chair*

S'okay anyway - I just hit productivity for the day, with forty-five minutes still to go! I can't remember the last time I did that.

*continues to try reconnecting to the database, just in case...* Apparently an email's gone around to say the system's down, but it hasn't reached me or Tash yet.

Got into work late again this morning; once again thanks to my lovely little rugrat. *rolls eyes* He was refusing to get dressed, making us miss the bus, and the next one was late. I'm amazed we managed to get on it, as it was like sardines in there. Then, when we got to the school ten minutes after the bell rang, instead of rushing for my second bus, I had to traipse all the way to the main hall to hand over the tin of cakes we had to make last night for the Eisteddfod. *sigh*

Still, changing my hours from next week, so it won't be so much of a hassle in the morning. Hopefully a calmer me will mean a less troublesome Rowan - it's happened before.

Random observation, while I have time; people who scoff at pre-school television (myself often included) really should take a moment to actually observe the show's target audience while they watch. Last week, we came across a new programme, called 'Carrie & David's Pop Shop', where Carrie and David help create a song for a 'customer'. This kind of show has been attempted before, with shows like the appalling 'Songmaker', or whatever it was called, wherein two little pixies lived inside the Songmaker's carpet bag and did all the work for her :-p This one is hosted by Carrie and David Grant, who are famous for their work in the West End, and as vocal coaches and judges on various singing competitions like Fame Academy. I watched the show just 'cause it was them, but seeing Rowan respond to it was amazing; they were doing things like 'passing' objects through the screen to the audience, like a cello, or the dice to join in their game of snakes and ladders, and he was automatically reaching out to take them! *grins* Plus he enjoyed trying to sing along - which is very cool with me. Their delivery was slightly cheesy, but think about it - this is a show aimed at the under sevens. That's what they respond to.

I'd rather that to Barney any day. *shudders* Now if I can just keep him from watching Power Rangers....we had to endure the 500th (WTF people?) episode the other night, which was the ubiqitous clip-show and ran through the entire history of the series, right through all it's varients. Maybe the actual plotty stuff is okay sometimes - even if the storylines are rather cheesy - but once they suit up? There are no words for how much it burns....

Anyway, better get back to twiddling my thumbs.... ;-)
