Of surfing penguins and exploding toilets
Dec. 30th, 2007 09:56 amMel and Will came to visit us yesterday *hearts them* I was still in my pyjamas cleaning up when they got here, but meh! What do family care about things like that? Will even took the rubbish bag to the communal bin for me! *grins
The day was mostly catch-up chit-chat, and playing on Rowan's playstation. He bought himself the Surfs Up game, and it appears to have been a massive hit. All three of them loved it, and Mel and Will were considering getting themselves a copy. :-)
We've had a great deal of rain over the last couple of days which, combined with the dodgy drainage on my block, means that I had a moat all around the flat again (Resists the urge to make Isaac Jaffe jokes, since half my flist won't get it *sigh* But I hope the other half will make the joke for me in their own head! *grin*) You can imagine how concerned/irritated Mel and Will were to see this, as they worry about us.
I wasn't sure it was worth calling the council's maintenance line yesterday, what with it being emergencies only on weekends and the New Year approaching. They also have very strict 'rules' on what they deem an emergency. However, it seems someone else called them as the drainage people came out yesterday afternoon. First we knew was when there was this loud noise, which sounded to me like my bath's drain getting filled with someone else's used water again - only with extreme prejudice. However, it turns out that the workmen's actions caused water to explode out of my toilet all over the floor! *laughs* First time that's happened!
Right, better get shifted for the day - Rowan's heading up to the in-laws again today. Feels odd that this is the third time in a week he's seen them, but that's Christmas for you. He's currently playing Surfs Up again *chuckles* He's showing some improvement from yesterday.
lordessrenegade's recent photo meme was very cool, and I have a new camera myself so...within reason, feel free to ask me to take photos of anything. :-) I reserve the right to first tidy up any part of my house that may end up in shot - I may be an awful housekeeper, but I do have some pride!
