I actually got strangely productive this evening. I can't even remember exactly what prompted it, but I found myself clearing my wardrobe of all the clothes that are currently too small for me (I've put them in a suitcase, in the hopes of one day fitting into them again. Yeah, go on and laugh...) and ended up sorting through most of the clutter in my room.
I can actually sit in the chair in my room! *boggles* Okay, granted I currently have to move a few items off it in order to do so, but it was previously covered by several boxes, so I declare this progress.
The room's nowhere near straight, hours later, but I work on the decluttering system that means I have to make the place into a big massive mess before I finish straightening it out properly. Cleaning my childhood bedroom generally involved piling just about everything onto the bed, and rearranging my furniture into new locations - shame I can't do that in this room.
Rowan was helping me by reading all the size labels on my clothes and putting them in the appropriate piles while I folded and put them away. Then he took a black bag into his room and began picking up the mess in there. He's nowhere near done, but he seems fairly enthusiastic to actually get the job done *fingers crossed*
After all that I had to do two days worth of dishes, and prepare tomorrow's lunch. I should also have ironed the clothes for the morning, but since I'll have to get up early enough tomorrow to make porridge I figure I'll have enough time to do that then. Right now I am way too tired.
Hopefully I can continue with the cleaning after Rowan's gymnastics tomorrow, and avoid getting stuck on the computer during Thursday. It's Rowan's school play on Thursday, so I swapped shifts to attend.
The suspected main reason for my productivity? Wanting the place to be straight for the weekend, just incase we have visitors over the house. I know Mel and Will are planning to come to Rowan's birthday party, and Will wants to go see Rowan at football practise, but other than that? Not sure what's happening. And seeing as hardly anyone actually visits me, I don't tend to have much enthusiasm for keeping the place any cleaner than it has to be. God knows my own mother's too ashamed of the place to visit unless she absolutely has to - and she's been like that since day one so I know it's not just my lack of housekeeping.
Right, it's nearly eleven thirty so I had better go sleep. I made sure my bed was clear, at least.
