Back to school!
Sep. 4th, 2007 06:54 pmRowan's first day back at school today - he seemed happy to be there, and left in a good mood, so I can only conclude it went well. The first friend he saw was Megan, who is adorable; she's one of the friends who went to nursery with him, and captured my heart back at Rowan's fourth birthday party, when she cuddled up to me and talked to me. I think that's the same day I also fell for little Lewis, the son of my high-school friend Gawain's girlfriend, who's also adorable and had an amazing vocabulary for a child even back then.
Megan told me all about her holiday, and was jabbering away at me for a good five minutes in the school yard. And at the end of the day, she ran down the street to us and gave Rowan a goodbye kiss! *awwws*
We had an interesting hour at the Recreation Grounds after school this afternoon; we hadn't been there for a couple of weeks, and in the interim it seems they've set up some kind of activity scheme at the Rec, called the World Trail. It's basically ten little 'stations' around the edge of the field, where you do activities such as push-ups, chin-ups, balancing...it's quite interesting! Rowan had a go at every single one of them and, while he's too small for most of it, he did pretty good.
After he'd worked up an appetite, we headed to the cafe on Wellfield Rd for some tea. It's a kind of tradition we're developing, for the first day of the academic year. We've been going to this particular cafe pretty much all my life, and at one time my parents used to get greeted every time , but not these days - even though the management hasn't changed. Plus Rowan and I have been in there almost every Friday since January, except for the holidays, to kill time till his gymnastics class. Ah well *shrugs*
