So I've had a busy day...
As soon as I took Rowan to school this morning it was necessary for me to pop into town, to the main office of the city's bus company. I discovered to my horror last weekend that I had accidentally washed, and tumble-dryed, my monthly bus ticket, and today was my first chance to sort that out.
Thankfully they were able to save my photocard - I've had it since I was sixteen - and gave me a replacement ticket for May without an admin charge. June's ticket came in the post while I was away and, since my photocard was salvageable, I didn't need a replacement for that too. Each card has its own unique ID, and they wouldn't have been able to issue a new one under my existing 'client reference', if you will. So this saved both myself and Cardiff Bus a headache.
I stuck around in town for a little while and collected my comics from Kris. It came to twenty-two quid - and I left Rowan's titles behind for another day! *sighs* But hopefully with my new hours I can call in more frequently. That certainly worked well back when I had an hour for lunch and could call in on delivery day.
I went back home then, intending to do some laundry and various other things, but there was a message on my phone (NTL/Virgin/Uncle Tom Cobbley & All has voice-mail! About a decade after BT started doing it! *snark*) from my Mam asking me to check up on Dad as he's not feeling well. I also ended up having to go out to the Industrial Estates in Rumney, as a courier firm had tried to deliver something to me last week while I was away, and couldn't guarantee they could try again at a time I'd be home.
It's a heck of a trek out there - worse than when I have to go to the Royal Mail's dispatch office! I had to get a bus down to town, then a bus out of town. Then I had to walk over a railway bridge and walk through the Industrial Estate for about a mile to get to the correct warehouse. I was knackered by the time I got there, and then had to do it all again! *laughs* All in all the trip took me two and a half hours, and I got to Rowan's school just a couple of minutes late.
For all that, though, the trip was worth it! *hugs
lithera* Thank you ever so much for the Mariners memorabilia, Kat! *wishes she could actually make a game*
I now have to go prepare for my tutorial this evening *sighs* My arm's hurting too - think I've got a sore muscle near my elbow. Damned uncomfortable beds *grumble*
