Two of the guys on my pod just instigated the 'sandwich challenge'. There's a facility on the company intranet to order sandwiches from the canteen for delivery to your desk, and they decided to order for each other the grossest combinations they could think of.

I can't remember what they ordered, exactly, but there was peanut butter and blue cheese in one, and marmite and avacado in the other...*shudders* Justin managed to eat his, but Dave couldn't finish his - so Justin wins *chuckles*

I'll be over here eating my nice, normal cheese and cucumber sarnies, ta.

However, I did discover from this that I could order peanut butter and banana sandwiches if I chose to - which is very much of the yay!

Hah!

Some days it's worth coming into work...

So I haven't said what we did over the Bank Holiday weekend, have I?

Well, lets see; Saturday was fairly typical in that we spent a few hours down the beach. There's still a fair amount of windchill, so it wasn't entirely pleasant, but we still had fun. Rowan and I wandered over to the cliff-face to one side of the beach, seeing if we could see any rock pools, but we made the apparent mistake of approaching from the shore. The sand alongside was really icky-slimey, coating our feet and making stepping through the rocks extra unpleasant. So we didn't stay long, but we did see some rock-winkles and sea-snails. There was also a small crab in the sand, but I didn't bother to check if it was still alive. You tend to come across a lot of crab skeletons on Whitmore Bay.

On Sunday I was Rowanless, so Tim and I went into town to see Spider-Man 3. I don't care what anyone else says; it wasn't the greatest movie in the world, but I still enjoyed it. Maybe its 'cause I've never been a dyed-in-the-wool Spidey fan, though he is my favourite Marvel character. I know enough to follow the movies, and that's fine with me.

With Monday being a bank holiday, there was no work or school and Tim, Rowan and I decided to actually go someplace. So, after much discussion and perusal of various tourist websites, we ended up on a train to Swansea to visit an arboretum called 'Plantasia'. It wasn't as big as I thought it would be, but it managed to squeeze in a lot of interesting tropical and desert plants. There was a large tropical area, with a long meandering path, with an 'arid' greenhouse the size of my living room housing almost a hundred different desert plants. Plus there was a small bird/butterfly house.

It was an exhausting day, especially when Rowan got cranky. We didn't get back to Cardiff till late, and everyone was hungry, so we tried to find somewhere to eat. But getting somewhere where everyone was happy with the menu - and would let Rowan in at that time of night - proved impossible. So in the end we got some chinese takeaway and went home. I was absolutely knackered, yet I still stayed up to watch Heroes... :-/

So, all in all a very active weekend. And one day I'll be able to take Rowan somewhere and not want to kill him by tea time....*chuckles*

Now I need to get myself ready for the holiday in Devon next week; shopping for new clothes with my birthday money on friday (before running home for another revision session), some cleaning around the house and packing on Sunday while Rowan's away for the day.

I'm exhausted just thinking about it.
