gothams3rdrobin: (annoying casey)
Okay, so I've had workmen invading my home for five days now. Here's a summary of what's been done:

Monday - kitchen gutted, all bathroom fixtures replaced
Tuesday - floor units in kitchen fitted
Wednesday - kitchen walls partially tiled and wall units put up. The wall units should have been done tuesday, but they used the fact one of their number got called away as an excuse to skive.
Thursday - final touches on kitchen tiles and bathroom tiled (after I pointed out it hadn't been done)
Friday - Gap behind toilet boxed in, side panel of bath fitted. Panel alongside space for cooker fitted.

Still to be done; flooring and installation of shower.

This, quite frankly, is doing my head in. I'm sick of having everything piled in my living room (though I have now been told I can start putting stuff back in my kitchen *relief!*) and I want my bathroom back, dammit!

They've managed to come to a not-too-bad compromise which means I don't have to lose the hall-access to the kitchen, which would have taken away a vital light source for my hallway (basement flats are a nightmare lighting-wise). It means I can't get to the little mirror on my kitchen wall anymore, but I can work around that. I also lose my good ironing spot, but then again if it means I actually put the ironing board away of an evening? Can't be a bad thing, surely.

I no longer have anywhere for my saucepan stand or vegetable rack (not that I used the latter much), and I have to figure out where Sym's food bowls can go. But on the upside, we haven't lost the hiding place for his litter tray.

*sighs* Right - time to go check on my cupboards, try and figure out where things are going to go.
