Well this sucks!
Sep. 3rd, 2006 12:20 pmAs some of you know, I'm trying to learn to follow Baseball - something which is pretty much impossible in this country unless you're a fan of the Yankees, Mets or White Sox...*sighs* Channel 5 sucks.
Now, I can subscribe to NASN for £10 a month, which would give me a wider range of games and teams to watch (But still not the Mariners or Orioles, dammit!), though this late in the season it's not worth subscribing just yet. So, whilst pondering this, I remembered
unkaphaed's suggestion that I download games from MLB.com.
I decided to check this out and found that, thanks to the wonder of exhange rates, this would be somewhat cheaper than an NASN subscription. At least for right now. So I went along and selected the All-Star Game from July (my video cut out on the eight inning! And my team won in a ninth-inning rally!!), a Seattle/Baltimore game from the start of August, a Yankees/Seattle game and the 1951 Giants/Dodgers playoff audio ("The Giants win the pennant! The Giants win the pennant!") at a total cost of $15.80/£8.29. All good, yes?
Hah - how many times have I said that in the last couple of years? See, the problem now is that I had to change bank accounts a couple of months ago and my new bank card is a Solo, not a Visa. It's also a Maestro, which allows me to use it abroad, but apparently it's not acceptable on MLB.com! *wails*
I sent them an email pleading for help in this, but I doubt they'll do anything *sulks* Man, I miss my old bank account....
