Aug. 12th, 2006 08:38 pmAfter a fairly crappy week, I guess today went pretty well.
Rowan and I went to the beach - just the two of us, 'cause Mam's working in my aunt's cafe this weekend as it's the Brecon Jazz festival. The weather wasn't brilliant, but it was tolerable, and Rowan spent most of the time playing with two kids near us. A little while before we left, he even joined the kids and their dad in a makeshift game of cricket! He looked so adorable, playing wicket keeper and then even getting a chance at bat (or whatever the cricketing term is). He had the right stance and everything!
And Mam thought I wouldn't get my arse in gear enough to get him down the Island...hah! I bet she was gutted to hear she missed watching him play cricket, when she called me on my mobile.
After that we headed back into Cardiff and I took him to the cinema to see 'Cars'. A pretty good movie, though it got a little boring at one point. However, it got back into the swing of things later and overall I enjoyed it.
He's going up to his grandparents tomorrow, so I should have some time to myself to get housework done and stuff. They haven't seen him in three weeks, as two weeks ago they left it till ten pm the night before to ask if he was coming up. I refused, 'cause I could have had plans I'd cancelled due to not hearing from them. Then we had Katie's birthday party last week. Today they sent me a message at about half past four, but I had my phone turned off in the cinema so I didn't get it till about eight. *shrugs* At least they appear to have gotten my point.
I'm tempted to blame
catwalksalone for my buying Rowan three 'Charlie and Lola' books last week *grins* But it's not like she dragged me to Waterstones at gunpoint. It is, however, Waterstones' fault for having a three-for-the-price-of-two offer on. I also discovered 'Inkspell', a sequel to a childrens novel I read last year called 'Inkheart'. There's supposed to be a movie coming out based on 'Inkheart', but I can't remember if I've seen any trailers for it yet.
I have a vague memory of something like that happening with the 'His Dark Materials' trilogy I read a couple of years ago too...but my memory is awful.
Oh and Carol! Guess what I missed seeing on cable last week? 'My Neighbour Totoro'! *wails*
