So tired tonight....
Feb. 7th, 2006 09:33 pmSeems like I always am, lately.
I was gonna be good last night - I switched Trillian off fairly early and planned to go to bed after Sports Night. But I made the huge mistake of hunting down an epic Sports Night fic I haven't read for a few months - one that I have a hard time walking away from.
So I ended up crashing to bed at about 2am, not 11pm as originally planned. And that was after deliberately stopping at the end of part three...
Come to think of it, the first time I read that fic was during one of the saturday all-nighters I pulled a little while ago. Probably the main reason why, too.
The bitch of it is that the fic's unfinished. And has been for about five years.
Thankfully I'd already ironed our clothes for today, so the fact we didn't get up till nearly eight thirty didn't cause a disaster. I'll be glad when the summer comes though, as I should have an easier time getting out of bed in the mornings.
Today was a bad day in work - couldn't concentrate very well. Had a bad day yesterday too, so I need to get my shit together for the rest of the week. I really really hate daily productivity targets, dammit.
Had to dash out of the office pretty much on the dot, 'cause I had to get home to meet this woman who was coming to inspect my carpets for the insurance claim. Of course, even that didn't go right. Got off the bus at my stop only to realise I'd left my keys in the office *facepalms* So I had to jump on the next bus back to town - a twenty minute journey when my appointment was in thirty - pick up my keys and rush back home again. My Dad was on my bus back, as my parents place is only on the next estate over and uses the same bus stop, so I got to chat to him on the way home. Halfway back my mother phoned me looking for me, as she'd collected Rowan for me and had discovered the insurance woman waiting outside the flat. She got a bit pissy with me 'cause the woman had another appointment to keep, but honestly! It's the first time in about six months I've left my keys in the office! *sigh* I was just rushing too much, is all.
On the flipside, I've been doing a fair bit of writing on the bus the last few days. I think my Muse is enjoying having a go at writing Sports Night fic 'cause she keeps teasing me with plot bunnies. Unfortunately she gets bored halfway through so I suddenly find myself struggling to bring it to a decent conclusion. I think writing the Sorkin-voices frightens her too - it sure as hell scares me!
Personally, I think she's also a little upset 'cause I read back through my old stuff the other week - some of this stuff's about ten years old and oh my god was it crap! I was so proud of it at the time, but now I read it and I think "Bloody hell, if I was looking at this on ff.net I'd have surfed away before I was even halfway through!"
Le sigh.
