Dec. 4th, 2005 01:14 pmDidn't go to bed till 5am last night....well, this morning.
Not entirely sure why - I guess I just wasn't ready. I pretty much plugged myself into some fanfic - never a good idea at the best of times, as I'm a bit of a fic junkie - and monitored a chatroom I was in.
It's always strange how you can feel like you're about to fall on your nose, so you sign off and pack the computer away, and then when you walk into the bedroom and start changing for sleep you don't feel quite so tired... It took me at least half an hour to actually fall asleep.
One of the reasons I read stories late at night is because I like to read before I go to sleep. This isn't so practical when you can't take the laptop to bed with you, but I haven't felt like taking a book with me for a little while. Plus, when you're sharing a room there's always a chance the little one will notice you're there and want some attention. For the brief few months I had my own bedroom again - before the floods did their damage - I was actually back to reading books in bed.
I did contemplate going back to bed after I'd taken Rowan to be collected by my in-laws, but decided against it. I popped down to the high street to pick up some bread and cereal, since we have a house guest for at least twenty-four hours starting this evening, then came home and decided to just mess around for a while. I'm putting off doing the dishes till later, since I have to boil the kettle for hot water.
I had been hoping to find Rowan's birthday present while I was out, but I wasn't in the mood to go all the way into town. So I checked one store on the high street before going to the supermarket, but didn't find it. There's a toy shop a block away I could have gone to if it had occured to me, but I wasn't really thinking too hard. Plus, now I think about it, I could also have called into the Starbucks on the corner for a Mint Bliss....*sigh* Ah well.
