Alors! Je suis tres folle!

My next french assignment is due by Friday, and I have it pretty much finished. All I have to do now is record the spoken part - for which I'm not getting marked, mind you - on to one of the handy dandy cassette tapes the OU supplied.

Why, in this age of technology - when I'm doing the online version of the course - can't I submit it on mp3? Why did I have to go spend nearly thirty quid on a tape recorder when I had to buy a new microphone-headset for the tutorials anyway?

I've got my script written, and I think it's accurate but it's too late to ask one of my language-savvy friends to check it over for me. I should get it recorded tonight, but I can already feel that ain't gonna happen. I'm too stressed right now.

I can only hope that the fact my tutor's in the next town over will work in my favour post-wise. Plus I don't have a jiffy-bag to post the tape in just now.

That's if I ever get back to writing it, of course. It's a WiP I started a couple of years ago. Cat said she'd like it if I finished it for her birthday, but I'm not at all sure I can. (Certainly not tonight, I'm far too tired.) But if I do, as you see from the above, my French is strictly schoolgirl level. Of course, even if I spoke it better it wouldn't help, Grandmere is Parisienne and that's what she speaks. Which I do not.

The OU is always some 10-15 years behind the time with technology, I'm afraid.

- and at that, I speak French better than HTML. Insert << La Nuit des Sports >> where apposite.

*concentrates hard to translate the french, and thinks she gets the gist of it without running to her dictionary - which is very much of the yay!* That sounds like a great idea - I'd love to know more about Danny's Grandmere!

*chuckles* At this point, I think my html skills exceed my french - I have a D-grade GCSE in it, but that was about twelve/thirteen years ago now... I'm calling up pretty much everything I know just to get through this course, as I'm not finding the set books very useful yet.

I'll help in any way I can, though I do have a friend who's a languages expert - and a Sports Night fan to boot! Perhaps I could ask her to help too, maybe.

You'd think that, since my Dad was talking on the OU's message boards seventeen years ago while doing an IT course, they'd be somewhat up to date by now! Especially since we're using special 'virtual classrooms' for the tutorials. *sighs*
